    Click click click

    Several recent discussions on how difficult and aggravating it can be to track down abnormal noises in an ebike. You've covered most of the usual suspects. How about the bottom bracket? That's where my last noise strongly synced with cadence came from. Started out as a click but evolved into...

    2025 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

    I was thinking also of that stunningly purple soup you showed us recently. You said it was colored with beet stalks. I'm sure you know that carrots come in purple, too.

    Wonderful ride! You seem to eat a lot of purple stuff. Is this common in Poland?

    Tour of Denmark 2025

    Speaking of betting, my neighbor/riding buddy normally doesn't follow pro cycling, but he does bet on other sports. And his ears perked up when I told him about the 2025 TdF and the upcoming Vuelta. He plans to put down $50 on something in the Vuelta, still not sure what. Wants me to add $25 to...

    Tour of Denmark 2025

    Yesterday, Mads Pedersen won the GC and his 3rd of 5 stages with very impressive efforts throughout. No mountain stages, of course, but quite a few short, steep climbs that clearly took their toll. He's said to have his sights on the Vuelta, now just 6 days away. @Rás Cnoic and @stompandgo ...

    2025 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

    Yes, twice, both times at mining museums, one in Colorado and the other here in SoCal. Kinda fun. Got a few gold flakes both times but never saw any stickers in the sand. ;^}

    Just for fun...

    Too late, just got an ad for a lavender skin suit — which I have to admit would look lovely with my pink tutu. ;^}

    Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

    Thanks for the Fidlock experience! Top tube will eventually be taken in my case. The plan is to put the clamp jaws to the right and left of the down tube bracket (as seen from the saddle). If the bracket's as low-profile as it looks, hoping nothing will touch it. We'll know in a week.

    Just for fun...

    Took Roxie to the vet for some routine immunizations the other day. A bubbly young female tech came out to take her back for the shots. "Oh my god, Roxie's so CUTE!! Who does her eyebrows?" Everyone else in the room cracked up, even the receptionists, but Roxie knew that nothing good could...

    Just for fun...

    Googled "bicycles in space" just for fun. Most of the top hits were about this anthology: You hear a lot about intersectionality these days — especially in identity politics, where you might hear a piece about how hard it is to be a left-handed white trisexual basketball player with freckles...

    Another new TQ motor: hpr40

    That's the problem with AI: You never know if it mistranslated what they actually said, let the cat out of the bag on the unicycle, or just fabricated the whole dialog. For all we know, they were really talking about the weather.

    Ordered Creo 2 Comp need info about app, bike, etc please

    I run tubeless 38 mm Pathfinder Pros on my 38 lb Vado SL 1 at 36-40 psi. The SL serves reasonably well as both a road and gravel bike — at least for my purposes. VERY happy with the Pathfinder's gravel and packed beach sand performance. As for road performance: Ride now and then with a roadie...

    Battery charging “rule of thumb”?

    Sorry, can't speak to the rule of thumb in question, but always safest to stick with a charger designed specifically for your battery. If Valstrom offers a fast and slow charger specifically for your bike, it's reasonable to assume that both are safe fire-wise if used as directed. Others can...

    Bosch Flow Maps Question

    Had a similar problem after hitting the recenter button in the Specialized app: Map was too zoomed out and wouldn't zoom or pan. Took a while to figure out that I had to hit the recenter button a 2nd time to unlock pan and zoom. Not the permanent zoom level you're after, as the same thing...

    How to change turbo mode to be as smooth as ECO

    Can't address every detail of that, but overall, it's a useful working theory of the situation. Just keep in mind that in ebikes as in life, everything's a trade-off. It'll take time in the saddle to get all your settings dialed in to your particular needs.

    How to change turbo mode to be as smooth as ECO

    In an automotve setting, greater horsepower generally means higher top speed, while greater torque means a shorter time from 0 to 60 mph. Ebikes aren't much different. Broadly speaking, ebike motor power is largely about the steady top speed you can attain in a given situation — say, on flat...

    Before you give up on the Gazelle, please try upshifting a gear or two to damp out the surging. If no go, see if your dealer will work with you to tone down the acceleration in Tour and Turbo while still providing the help you need. A guess and check approach with you there to test each trial...
