You're correct that it is mainly an insulator at e-buke voltages, not so at high voltages. A properly fitting connector will scrape all but a very thin film off, which protects the connector from moisture.

I've been using it for decades. Always in moderation, as a lubricant, not a sealant.

The best is dielectric grease. It's an insulator, but electrically, it's not. You can get it at any decent auto parts store.

I see a little bit of wear on one tooth of cog four at the end of the shift ramp, but that's normal as the cog is pressed to create the ramp and it isn't always perfect. Are you having shifting issues? What are you doing for chain maintenance?

On 8, 9 and 10 speeds, the misalignment is very easy to see. On 11 and 12 speeds, it can be subtle. The same tool works for all, though.

Love it. We were into trials bikes and owned a Bultaco Sherpa T.
