Heat is a thing on brakes they would need braised on. plus the materials would be expanding and contracting in use all of the time. but hey Darwin loves cheapskates.

How would you bind it? How would you shape it so it is the right size? Would you be willing to bet your life on it working? Brake pads are not that expensive and way to f*ck around with.

this is one thing that gets me on my second gen bosch the spin stops instantly when you stop pedaling the 4 gen it goes a tiny bit when you let up so shifting is clunkier and I see more wear on cassettes.

Looks fine. I usually get maybe 8000 miles on a cassette but it depends on so much. my first bosch bike I had 14k on the original cassette. on our bosch powered tandem the 13t cog would skip around 2000 miles.

feels better at the same pressure, softer. going to be less me use more pliable tires without the worry of punctures I would get with them with tubes. On the tandem, it really helps.

What I like about tubeless is that I seldom have to stop and deal with an issue; I can usually make it where I need to go, or I just need more sealant, as that's why it did not seal. It needs a plug. But I can run lower PSI for a smoother ride, and I can have nicer riding tires without the worry...

this guy is even better. but I was afraid it would nto fit where I needed it to without always having to reach for an extension. Plus I dont use sockets that much...

I wanted the wera socket/bit set, but I did not need the socket handle, and I wanted the ratcheting handle. Since I seldom use sockets, I figured I did not need to spend 100 or more on them, so I got this cheap set since it will fit the Wera handle too. Guess what one costs more?

I finally splurged on the Wera ratchet handle. I have the socket type, but with my fumbling hands, I am always changing the direction, or it is falling out of the fastener. I can use that or a t-handle for the last part of tightening or the first part of loosening if needed. I changed the bits...

The cost of tubeless can be high. Luckily, we had tubeless rims already. After a year or so working out my bigs, they work pretty well, but we ride all of the time. I have been using Peety's sealent, it seems fine, but last winter I had several cuts that would not seal or would keep leaking even...

One thing I got right every time is rim tape. I used the DT-Swiss as it has a little stretch, and it was pretty easy to get right. But valves were a battle. But don't use lock-tite, or it is a battle to get the nut off the threads are so fine that anything in them makes it super hard to remove...

The only problems I have had were tires that I thought were tubeless. I did not know Schwalbe would make the same model tire in tubeless and not. They seemed to work till I switched to a narrower rim, then blew off. then leaking valves. But I got the valve deal taken care of now.
