    Pinion Motor.Gearbox.Unit (MGU)

Interesting in this tariff mad world, that from what I can see most components on that Haibike are made in Europe or US. Nothing from China other than the dropper which is also HQ in Germany so might be made there. Don't know if that is deliberate due to current situation, or just Haibike's...

    Pinion Motor.Gearbox.Unit (MGU)

The haibike AllMtn CF TRN/IQ with Pinion MGU is finally officially released. First started seeing mentions in forums back in Jan & pictures from online bike shops in Poland & U.K. but with no ordering details/release info strangely, but nothing at all on the Haibike website. So here it finally...

Still searching for the perfect ultra-light ebike kit for road bikes — here’s the idea in my head

One thing I think you always forget is that large parts of Europe are very hilly, unlike Warsaw and environs. Yes the 25km cut off is at an awkward speed on flat roads riding on your own, but in hills or a headwind the motor assistance is fine because you are mostly riding below that. And in a...

Still searching for the perfect ultra-light ebike kit for road bikes — here’s the idea in my head

Made in the Basque Country actually. Pretty famously from there. Owned by a a worker cooperative originally established in 1840 by the Orbea brothers and currently selling approx 200,000 bikes a year. The Gain is hugely popular currently with 13 carbon & alloy versions on sale and winner of...

Still searching for the perfect ultra-light ebike kit for road bikes — here’s the idea in my head

There is also the KMC (the chain people) lightweight hub motor released last year: KMC Kynamic hub motor review Pros Compact Lightweight Nearly silent Smooth response Repairable Cons Small display Features Replaceable freehub Removable from the hub shell for maintenance Specifications...

Still searching for the perfect ultra-light ebike kit for road bikes — here’s the idea in my head

If you look at the links I attached you'd see that this isn't the same model of Hyena motor on Treks but a new motor designed for road bikes released last month and due out later this year. Set for a first showing at Taiwan’s leading trade show later this month and to appear on e-bikes from...

Recommend me handlebars with back sweep

I did something similar when I first got my Vado SL went for the On one OG bars and found them much more comfortable than the more mtb straight bars. 4 years later still have them on.

Wahoo ELEMNT vs. Garmin EDGE (as E-Bike GPS Displays)

I have eventually watched the recommended video. The man is not using the E-Bike GPS computer features with his bike He's an interesting bloke, classic roadie, more interested in stats about himself I'd say rather than the ebike features. He built a homemade range extender for his Gain as he...

Wahoo ELEMNT vs. Garmin EDGE (as E-Bike GPS Displays)

That info was all stored in Mission Control and I assume the new Spesh app; distance, max speed, map, elevation and so on so I didn't need a bike computer and yes I like occasionally looking back at rides and comparing to recent ones. But I just don't have much need while I'm out riding. As long...

Wahoo ELEMNT vs. Garmin EDGE (as E-Bike GPS Displays)

How do you determine the speed of your Vado SL? Do you have a Mastermind TCU? Or, do you use the TCD? When I'm cycling? I don't. Phone in pocket or handlebar bag, nothing to interrupt the ride. Find screens distracting and in ordinary life I'm staring at my damn phone far too much. As I said...

Still searching for the perfect ultra-light ebike kit for road bikes — here’s the idea in my head

Just saw this, a new Taiwan lightweight/road bike rear hub motor. Can't tell if it's a B2B or a DIY kit like Bafang, suspect it's the former to sell to frame brands etc. The speed with which Chinese bike companies seem to be innovating I expect there could be several new lightweight hub motor...

Wahoo ELEMNT vs. Garmin EDGE (as E-Bike GPS Displays)

Must be me but I'm really not that interested in a million stats on a ride. I just want to get outside and explore. I don't race anymore, I'm not trying to break any records so the Strava bros stuff is of zero interest. Gradient and elevation are interesting to see when a hill feels tough. My...

Wahoo ELEMNT vs. Garmin EDGE (as E-Bike GPS Displays)

Yes the Shimano interface sucks. No elevation either and very clunky with the two apps instead of a combined single app like Spesh. Plus turning on the app you have to have the bike power off, then on, or visa versa always forget which. Interesting that Garmin gives accurate battery, thats useful.

Wahoo ELEMNT vs. Garmin EDGE (as E-Bike GPS Displays)

No idea if it can see the RE. I don't own a bike computer myself. As I said, several people have recommended/reviewed the Coospo recently. So thought I'd mention it for EBR readers as an alternative to Wahoo/Garmin & supply one owner/Youtuber's review who no doubt has tested it fairly well. He...

Wahoo ELEMNT vs. Garmin EDGE (as E-Bike GPS Displays)

Garmin and Wahoo look both excellent systems. Ive also being seeing quite a bit about this Chinese rival the Coospo CS500 which is similar size to the Garmin 540, is quite a bit cheaper and has excellent battery life. Another option perhaps. Here's review & comparison of the Garmin Edge 130+...

Vado SL 2 Alloy version released

Yeah the Ortlieb one is not exactly the same as a Klickfix mount though is it? Has those safety cords to keep the bag firmly attached no matter the type of roads and specifically designed for gravel. It's a big 10 litre bag so needs that extra safety. When I rode in Holland you fellas have that...

Vado SL 2 Alloy version released

Not sure, I think it's a different one. The 'Handlebar Pack QR' - it comes with extra safety cords for gravel, like I was forced to do with velcro straps as safety back up for the klickfix. https://uk.ortlieb.com/products/handlebar-pack-qr Here's the Sonder/Alpkit one. A fairly simple 3 point...

Vado SL 2 Alloy version released

Look I've a mixed view of Klickfix. I've had to replace those long Philips head screws a number of times through stripping, they are soft cheap metal. The mounting tech is old and clunky with cheap plastic parts. It's practically 80s tech. I still use it because there haven't been many other...
