    Water Bottles

Wow. I feel like I should have a water bottle. I mean, I have the bottle cage. Problem is, I only ride 4 miles to work. I feel like I could use a generic plastic squeeze bottle and fill it with bike tools as storage. Then again, I’m only traveling 4 miles.

My DIY builds: GMAC, BBSHD, 9C RH212, CYC Photon, ToSeven DM01, Grin All Axle

100% agree! I’m putting a dual motor bike together. It’s got 2 direct drive motors. Definitely wanting to give 5mil Statorade to each motor. Once I can get around better, I’ll continue the build. I’m using an EVG 24v bike as the donor. lol.

My DIY builds: GMAC, BBSHD, 9C RH212, CYC Photon, ToSeven DM01, Grin All Axle

This is great to hear. If my existing motor ever goes out, I’ll be sure to get the RH212. I’ve been looking at that motor for a couple of years now. It’s heavy, but should still be able to climb the hills along my commute.

splicing Julet 4 pin tail light cable

Looks like you can remove the taillight from the rear rack. If you can, then remove it and move it closer to the controller and pull the slack from the controller side. You don’t need to pull the whole length of wire out, but just enough to do your splicing. Then tuck it all back and re-mount...

Help with finding speed box for my e-bike

That white wire, does that have a connector on it? The speed limiter wire is usually a single wire connected to itself. You shouldn’t have to cut anything. You could replace the controller and display, assuming they work. Even though the connectors look the same, you MAY have to realign the...

    Servicing the Shimano M360 derailleur.

Ahh, yes. I’ve got lots of wiring in my bike and it was choking the inner cable at where the cables and wires enter the frame. Also put some 3in1 oil in there. Shifting got better. I haven’t rode in cold weather yet so I don’t, yet, know if that was the issue.

What have you learned from your e-bike experiences?

Going with a DTC bike, I enabled myself to learn a new hobby. Turns out I really like it and I’m learning quick. After reading horror stories of various DTC customer service and support issues, I decided I was going to be the electrician and mechanic. Im not willing to waste hours of my time...

    Servicing the Shimano M360 derailleur.

At the price of that derailleur, I’d probably buy a whole new unit instead of buying just the one piece too. I just thought it was interesting to see how it all works and where the springs are. Since the manual doesn’t reveal their location, but does say to “wash and lubricate all moving parts.”...

    Servicing the Shimano M360 derailleur.

I’ve noticed that a lot of e-bikes come with this derailleur. I have one on my 2021 Ride1Up 700 Series bike. I’ve been thinking about servicing my derailleur, but had a hard time finding info. Except this manual. Here is a great video of the derailleur being serviced and regreased. I really...

I’ve put hot glue over the wires before I slide the heat shrink over. The heat it up. That seemed pretty solid.

e-MTB riders — how do you plan your rides? Quick 5-10min survey

If you are offered a gift card, or anything, for participating, be cautious! I was given an offer, but I never got the gift card. Not by this user, but a similar user a couple of years ago. I talked to him over the phone to give my opinions on ebiking. This one is weird though. The user joined...

What have you learned from your e-bike experiences?

I never realized how much I love my bike. Really, I don’t have to spend 45 minutes to drive 4 miles from work. I can bike that same 4 miles in 15 minutes. I love that. I also love to work and improve on my bike. It’s very different than the manufacturer intended it to be.

    Controller Wiring Diagrams

I know I’m late. Your wires are crossed here. The black goes to yellow and the yellow goes to black. It should be black to black and yellow to yellow. That’s one issue. There MAY be others. Here is a nice video detailing how to realign the pins in the connector. They probably sent you all...

    Forum Features: Your Opinion Wanted!

This site is nice and has been a good introduction into e-bikes. I like endlesssphere for a deeper dive. Lots of interesting folks there. A few A-holes, just like any other part of the World Wide Web. Also LOTS of knowledge. I made a “build” thread there.

    Standing Up on ebike: safe?

Go to your profile, then preferences. You'll see many options there. I think the reason the guy said to not stand on an ebike is liability. When you stand you'll be top heavy. If you hit the throttle too hard, then you might fly backwards. Just use common sense and you should be fine. I...
