Ultimate 380+ Belt Tension, is this too much slack?

Yeh I had the mic as close as I could get it as I saw on the videos. Is it worth getting a tool or just getting a feel for it and/or the +- 1 CM measurement? I will probably get it anyway, I never turn down and opportunity for a new tool I just question the need for a qualitative measurement...

Ultimate 380+ Belt Tension, is this too much slack?

I tightened a bit to where I remember it was when I got it. I tried the Gates tension app but I couldn't get good readings from it. It seems like the signal is too low.

Ultimate 380+ Belt Tension, is this too much slack?

Diving into the youtube I see that yes, it is probably too loose. Also how to adjust it (looks easy). And there is even a smartphone app from Gates to check proper tension.

Ultimate 380+ Belt Tension, is this too much slack?

I had a clunk in the drive after I was coasting to make a turn and then started pedaling again when turning. I didn't see anything wrong when I stopped and noticed the tension is a little more slack than I remember it was. I bought this about 10 days ago and I have about 200 miles on it now...

An easy and expensive mistake: Vado Battery Related

As others noted above besides for a common user error of putting the key an inch over to the charging port things like a staple on the magnetic plug has also caused this problem. Since it bricks a $900 battery that is a lot of warranty claims or really pissed off customers that could easily...

An easy and expensive mistake: Vado Battery Related

I think it did have a fuse to protect the batteries from shorting out. But once the fuse blew no more charging. For a few more cents they should have added a diode or some other protection circuit and avoided this problem.

An easy and expensive mistake: Vado Battery Related

I did this too. I like having the charger and the key on the left side (The Gazelle as them on the right hand side) but I did the same thing in the dark. I saw a spark and then noticed it wouldn't take a charge any more. I watched some youtube video taking the battery apart and it looked like...

An E-bike With A Quiet Motor

Is it? I only had mine a little over a year but the motor was great.

An E-bike With A Quiet Motor

Go with the Vado. MUCH quieter, the Brose motor uses an internal belt instead of a gear that isolates much of the noise.

Well the Nyon from Kiox upgrade was not bad at all.

For those did an upgrade, what did you do with your old units? Anyone want to sell a Kiox or Intuvia for cheap?

Specialized Vado 4 vs Gazelle Ultimate 380+ (long)

If they had a belt drive IGH Vado 4 I would probably be riding that now. Especially it looks like they fixed the battery mounting issue that was my biggest annoyance with the 2020 Vado. The ride is much quieter and the stock computer was better. Overall they both great bikes and the...

Specialized Vado 4 vs Gazelle Ultimate 380+ (long)

Good advice. When the stock tires wear out in a year or two I will be back for more specific advice.

    80% charge level.

The "damage" comes from heat in the cells and not the actual state of charge. A good BMS will taper down the current as it nears full. But do we trust all of them? Also how the gauge is calibrated. It's to the marketing advantage to push the limits as much as possible to make the batteries...

Specialized Vado 4 vs Gazelle Ultimate 380+ (long)

I didn't know that. I don't know which one might be better but for the comparison the motors were equivalent specs. The Brose motor has an internal belt and is much quieter. On the Vado it's also hidden inside the frame. On the Bosch it has nice cast heat fins on the bottom which seem to be...

[UN-RESOLVED, Again!] Specialized "Rider - I Don't Care" Support is non-existent, what is YOUR experience? (poll) (NEW SYSTEM IN PLACE 4-21-22)

Maybe the dealers have better support? My only issue the battery on my Vado 4 stopped charging. It was annoying I had to bring it to my dealer and didn't have the bike for a week or so until the new battery arrived. But the dealer handled it all and called me back the day I dropped it off...

Specialized Vado 4 vs Gazelle Ultimate 380+ (long)

I saw that it was different but I didn't look too close at the Vado 4. They Vado 4 doesn't have an IGH/belt option like the 3 and the 5 do. I might have got another Vado 4 if they did. Glad they can quickly fix mistakes.

Specialized Vado 4 vs Gazelle Ultimate 380+ (long)

TLDR: Both great bikes with similar specifications The IGH and belt of the Gazelle are long term benefits not immediately appreciated for comparison The ride is more "natural" feeling on the Vado, the Gazelle feels "pushy" Gazelle is prettier Tires more gravel on the Vado, more street on the...

Specialized Vado 4 vs Gazelle Ultimate 380+ (long)

Thanks. I am looking into it. The Intuvia seems to have similar capabilities to the Specialized computer. I really just want a decimal point on the trip miles and a timer with average speed.
