Looking to spend £2500 on an ebike..

48cm is the smallest men’s frame size, which sounds a bit small unless you are 5’6”: a 52cm one I suspect would be a better fit for riders up to 5’10” (of course not everyone is the same shape or has the same flexibility). At 6’0” I felt a little stretched out on my large frame Specialized MTB...

Looking to spend £2500 on an ebike..

It's good that you have at least managed one test ride; my local dealer in town had a Trek Allant+ 7 (Medium frame at £3100), the Giant Fastroad EX Pro (Large frame at £2899) - at 6' tall i actually felt OK on the M frame Trek, and a bit stretched out on the L frame Giant, no test rides though...

    Fastroad E - EX PRO

Had mine 6 weeks, and whilst i only have a handful of miles on it I'm very happy with it , more so now the firmware and software is updated. I'm still in that infancy stage where i just like to look at it, rather than ride it lol!

Looking to spend £2500 on an ebike..

No experience with any of them, but a few things I noted.. the haibike comes with mudguards, lights and a rear rack - you’d need to add these to the Forme if they are things you actually need (or look at a different forme like the Alport HTE Urban model at higher price with them). Adding lights...

    FASTROAD E+ EX PRO 2021

I have the 375Wh battery, would have been nice to have a 500Wh (assuming no price increase, lol!) but i dont need anything beyond the 62 miles the 375Wh gives me anyway

2170 Format (aka 'Tesla style') cells coming in a 21 Amphour battery pack

Well im not sure too many people NEED a 21Ah battery pack, personally i'd rather have two smaller capacity packs - if one fails i still have a working one.

    Poor Kalkhoff aftersales service

If you don’t have the user manual you can download them from the service secion of kalkhoff website. Not 100% sure this is the correct one for you but there are pages from 92 onwards about charging , sleep modes and fault finding...

storing my electric bike at the beach

What about some very large vacuum storage bags, perhaps you could source some big enough to get one wheel and frame in with the handle bars turned and the other wheel loose?

Are you happy with your UK spec ebike?

I’m 99% happy with my Giant. The 375Wh is a bit puny for some riders but it’ll be plenty for my needs. I’m yet to need the top two assist levels and I’ve no need to go beyond 25mph even on downhill sections; especially on public roads with less than observant car drivers

    Poor Kalkhoff aftersales service

One question on charging, have you tried charging with the battery on the bike and off , assuming there is a different charging connection ? ( on basis that some of these have an off bike charging base)

Are you sure your bike model is Kalkhoff Derby? Not wanting to infer you don’t but Kalkhoff are owned by Derby Cycle Werks. I’ve not avidly followed their model range but certainly around the time we bought my wife’s Groove I don’t remember any model named Derby, nor does that appear in their...

I believe rutlandcycling are a uk dealer these days, not had any dealings with them but perhaps worth a try too. Ditto www.bikester.co.uk and https://www.onbike.co.uk/electric-bikes/kalkhoff/ hollandbike shop https://hollandbikeshop.com/en-gb/bicycle-parts-electric-bicycle/ may be worth an...

    Poor Kalkhoff aftersales service

We bought my wife’s Kalkhoff from 50cycles, Bristol in ca 2016; I think 50cycles were the uk retailers for Kalkhoff at the time, sadly not today. They did sell some lightly used (demo?) bikes earlier in the year so they may still have some spares, always worth a try, they have several outlets so...

    Please recommend some 29" tires

Schwalbe have several that might be of interest ranging from Rapid Rob, through Smart Sam as a good all rounder, to the Hurricane which is ok on gravel roads, light trails. There are also several versions of the marathon tire, and the G-one is ok on tarmac and light off road. there’s also the...
