    Need help with hub motor

There are all kinds of how-to videos on YouTube about changing bicycle wheel bearings. Towpath shouldn't have any trouble fixing those if that's the problem. Odds are the bearings are cartridge bearings, so it should be a matter of finding the right sized cartridge and swapping it out.

    Need help with hub motor

The only LBS around here that I'm aware of that actively advertises that they have e-bike certified techs is Towpath Bike at Schoen Place. Shops I've personally dealt with Sugar's: for mechanical only, they aren't comfortable working on the electrical systems, have been helpful Towpath: Have...

    Is the animus overblown?

The vast majority of the responses I've gotten have been positive. In my opinion the majority of the problem attitudes come from hard-core cycling "purists" and people that just don't like cyclists at all.

    Riding with non-e-bikes

When I'm out riding most cyclists I run into seem to be genuinely interested in what riding an e-bike is like. If I had to make one suggestion, it would be that if you take your e-bike on an organized ride be prepared to be asked and answer a lot of questions.

Show us pictures of where you ride your ebikes!

Here are a couple pictures from a 20 mile ride I took along the Genesee River and Erie Canal. Both waterways had really high water levels and the Genesee was really moving. The bridge over the river is right next to where the canal and the river meet. It is a real crossroads for bike trails. The...

    Police Harassment

Even though helmets are entirely optional for cyclists in my state I wear a helmet. I know far too many cyclists that have survived bad crashes and had helmets save them to not see their worth. I honestly don't care how "dorky" I look if the helmet protects me if I have an accident. That's the...

How many times have you heard "that's cheating!"? ?

The few times I've been told "You're cheating" were all made in jest. Each time it lead to a discussion about bikes in general and my experiences with and why I got an e-bike. The biggest change I've experienced this year is more and more riders are noticing my e-bike and the comments are...

Suggestions for a bike rack for rear of SUV

I've been able to make it work with a trunk rack, but I have to lighten the e-bike first. I use a Saris Bones trunk rack. I'd recommend going with a hitch rack if you have a tow hitch on your vehicle.

Learning to ride an ebike: How ebiking skills are different from general cycling skills, and how they develop

Lessons I've learned: 1) If you have to lift an e-bike (onto a repair stand, bike rack, etc) take the battery off first. It shaves close to 10 pounds off the lift weight. E-bikes are heavy. 2) Direct drive bikes are very tail heavy and have a much different center of balance on the horizontal...

    Bicycles have gotten 'insanely expensive'

When I picked up my Bianchi Volpe in 2007 it was $850 retail, and by the time I had it built up for me the total price was somewhere between $1200 to $1300. My first e-bike was $1500 (Rad Power Bikes Rad City). All things considered, not that big of a price difference. One being a traditional...

Is a full-face DH helmet for certain e-bike riding activities overkill or a good idea?

I invested in a White Giro Bexley. I'm extremely happy with it. All my riding is on roads, paved bike path, or hard-pack trail so it is the perfect helmet for what I do on a bike. (Link Removed - No Longer Exists) edit: Also, to add, any amount of money spent on a great helmet is money well...

    2019 Radmini or Radmini step-thru

If you are going to be primarily riding roads and bike paths or have any plans to put a rack on the back and carry any kind of loads (like going shopping or the like) go for the step through. The high step looks like it would be better if you are going to do some off-road cycling with it.

What tire pressure for a fat bike?

Different tires handle differently at different pressures. The Kenda Krusades that came on my RCS were fine around 18-20 psi. The Vee Rubber Speedsters I put on my RCS are a lot quieter and roll easier on paved roads, but get really "squirmy" below 25 psi. I usually run the speedsters around...

Hi mi name is bruce and just purchased a schwinn monroe e250...it worked when i first drove it but the motor is not working now....the led display

Make sure your battery has a charge and is seated in the battery mount correctly. The fit between a new battery mount and a new battery can be tight at times so your battery might not be fully seated.

Looking for a EBIKE, need help ?

Mechanical disk brakes are very easy to work on and adjust if you are familiar with old school bikes with calipers and don't require specialized tools to service. Hydraulics are much better brakes all around (better braking power, less hand strength required, better at dissipating heat, and so...

Looking for a EBIKE, need help ?

This is from the perspective of a 2018 Ripcurrent S (RCS) owner Everything "hardware wise" on the RCS is a step up from the Rover. 52V power system (less performance loss when the battery starts getting low on charge), much bigger battery (RCS=998 watt hours vs Rover=672 watt hours) , higher...

Show us pictures of where you ride your ebikes!

I've been trying to bike commute at least once a week weather permitting. Views like this really help. This route takes me by the police academy. I came across the cadet class out for a run. The entire class shouted out "GOOD MORNING SIR!" as I approached. Absolutely made my morning.

when will prices come down out of the stratosphere?

Last week I had somebody ask me during a lengthy conversation about my bike and what it can do what the cost was. I didn't find it rude because, within the context of our conversation, it was a completely legitimate question as the conversation happened in the parking lot of my workplace. The...

Cost/benefit analysis of ebiking versus driving a car

The battery is a wear item, not a consumable. Fuel and electricity are consumables, you use them up every time you ride the bike/car. The battery falls into the same category of things like tires, brakes, windshield wipers, car batteries, serpentine belts, and so forth. Things that wear out over...

Hello, new to Ebikes and Ebike forum and would like some input if possible.

Before picking specific makes and models of e-bikes I'd suggest asking yourself these questions: 1) How comfortable are you with wrenching on a bike? 2) Do any local bike shops you trust carry e-bikes? 3) Are there any local bike shops that will service e-bikes that they don't sell? Those...
