New brake pads don't stop that well

I had Ashima semi-metalic AD0102-SM-S pads installed front and rear. Brake system is Shimano Deore BR-M6000. Pads are not near as grippy as the old. In fact they feel about like the old ones did when they were worn down to the nub. I need to squeeze the brake handles pretty hard to get the bike...

Installing mirror on the end of the handlebars

Update, handlebar mirror. Installed--finally. Should help even though it's small--a Zefal "Spin." I also have a helmet mirror. Helpful info on the plastic plugs--thanks. If I sell the bike I'll get new ones and probably new end caps since they're a bit chewed up.

Looking for Opinions on Bikes (and potentially some other options)

I picked up a Gepida Alboin SLX trekking model. Take a look at their videos, especially the manufacturing process: http://gepida.com/Company/Videos I'm very impressed with the fit and finish and the quality of the components. Their manufacturing facility is second to none, which means highly...

Recommendations for Basket for Rear Rack

Update--I took the cheap Ventura Wide Wire basket and bolted it to the rack. Required sawing off the brackets on the bottom of the basket. I zip-tied some foam pipe wrap on the rack. A brass hinge was the perfect size for a mending strap on the bottom. Four 3 mm carriage bolts with washers down...

Recommendations for Basket for Rear Rack

Thanks, lots of options. The Bushwacker bags look light enough, no worries about riding around with then when I don't really need them.

Recommendations for Basket for Rear Rack

Thanks, I think I'll explore this route. A YouTube project shows how to lash the basket at all contact points with nylon string, with each loop secured by looping it through the last stitch. Takes a long time but would last. Strong zip ties faster. Going to a shop tomorrow and will also ask...

Recommendations for Basket for Rear Rack

I have Gepida Alboin SLX 10 Trekking bike. Basically I'm looking for a securely mounted, heavy plastic milk crate with a removable mesh top. Dividers inside to secure bottles and smaller items a must, or a way to bungie things. A Gepida rep said they work with Topeak, but the Topeak MTX Basket...

Known Issues & Problems with Gepida Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

I have a Gepida Alboin SLX 10. I bought it barely used with low miles. I have only minor complaints. It would be nice to have detailed videos on things like the display as well as maintenance items and common upgrades like installing a mirror on the handle bar.The water bottle holder is small...

    Hello from Lake Como!

My wife and I were told that we simply couldn't move to Italy. Too many hurdles. We lived in Uruguay for two years, a low-bar residency country. After getting residency, we got a green light at the Italian Embassy in Montevideo. Long story short, we got a ITALIAN ELECTIVE RESIDENCE VISA, based...

    Hello from Lake Como!

It's insane how beautiful it is here. I found an affordable house up the road from the lake and away from the crowds that gather for festas. It's simply ideal, and so much cheaper than a miserable little place in the States. I feel fortunate. I'm retired and just hanging out here.

    Hello from Lake Como!

I just bought my first pedelec, a Gepida ALBOIN SLX 10 Trekking. I'm enjoying the hell out of it. My only quibble thus far is the water bottle holder is small, and I need a good basket or carrying case for the rear rack. I live in Colico, on the north shore of Lake Como where the Adda river...
