    Gepida Fastida

The Fastida looks a lot like my Gepida Alboin 1000 (2017). The upgrade on the seat post looks like a good idea. The stock SELLE ROYAL ARIEL GEL saddle is getting compressed. My Gepida has 3400 KM on it now, and aside from brakes and keeping the rear cassette tight, no problems at all. Not even...

Installing mirror on the end of the handlebars

The end caps on my Gepida handle bars look like this photo. I still have the mirror for the handle bar and wouldn't mind installing it. I'm still not sure if the mirror will firmly attach to the end of the handle bar. I will have to take a good look at it. I ended up, from a suggestion on this...

SHOW us YOUR PIX here .... Odd, WeiRd ,UnUSuAl or EyE CaTchIng things from your rides

In the Pian di Spagna nature preserve area near Colico, Italy, along the Adda river which flows into lago di Como. This is a 15 minute ride from my house. In this area there are horses, cows, sheep, and donkeys. The swamp land was filled in 150 years ago, now small farms.

    Intermittent non-connection, Bosch Performance Line

I have a 2017 Bosch Performance line battery and display, mounted on a Gepida city bike. Intermittently the display turns on and works, but the motor doesn't engage. It's a connection problem somewhere. I take the display off the bike when I leave it chained up in a public place, so it has been...

    true bike security.

I just got a ridiculously heavy Oxford Products OF163 Chain Lock. It's made for motorcycles. I use a smaller cable lock to secure the front tire to the frame. It does take up a fair amount of room in the bike basket and I can actually feel the weight of it. A lock picker on YouTube didn't have...

    Bearings?

I think it's a weak point. It's gotten loose a couple times now

    Bearings?

UPDATE: Just got the bike back from the shop, €30 service. The bearings were not bad, the motor is fine. There was apparently some play in the rear cassette causing the clunking and notchy feel. Probably good to get that tightened up before excessive wear sets in. This is the cost of not having...

The Sentiero Valtellina near Dubino and Colico, Italy

This was in the Pian di Spagna today. The trail in this area winds up to Chiavenna, with several side trails going up into the mountains. The horses here were unfenced, just wandering loose. They were quite curious.

    Bearings?

I'm getting a sound, sort of a soft clunking that comes and goes, and a feeling in the left pedal like it skipped for a second, like a half second free spinning with no resistance. Is this an early sign the bearings need repacked or maybe replaced? I suspect the off/on aspect has to do with the...

How much play in Shimano gear cassette? Chain stretch?

Very cool video. Love the chain cleaning tool, but as one comment mentioned there's probably a biodegradable orange oil substitute for solvent. I'll have to look for these supplies. Great tip on measuring the chain. Thanks.

Adjusting front suspention on Suntour 63 mm

I have a Gepida bike with a Suntour Nex E 25 63 MM front suspension fork. Does anybody know how to adjust these? They feel like they're either locked or set on the stiffest level. I would like to make them softer. I removed the top cap and there is an arrow that indicates it can be turned, but...

How much play in Shimano gear cassette? Chain stretch?

I have a small amount of play in my gear cassette. It wiggles back and forth maybe 1/16". Is this normal? Also, I'm putting quite a few miles on the bike. How much play should there be in the chain, and how can I tell if it needs tightened? Last, the gears are dusty on the inside, the opposite...

Best value (not cheapest) city ebike for hills (with quality components, etc)...

The Kinect seat post looks awesome. How are you liking it? I like the looks of that light as well.

Best value (not cheapest) city ebike for hills (with quality components, etc)...

The Felt looks very good. Did you outfit it with fenders, lights, rear rack, and a chain guard? Is the digital display easy to use? Is the stock seat comfortable? California looks like the source in the States for e-bikes.

    Dodged a bullet--rear wheel loose

Learned a good lesson--always check the quick release levers. I'd gotten my bike out of the shop recently for brake pads. I assumed everything was tightened properly. The rear wheel was loose as a goose! Gears were clanking around and shifting on their own due to this.

Best value (not cheapest) city ebike for hills (with quality components, etc)...

The Gepida is very good, but I don't know how cheap they are in the states. Quick-release on both tires and the seat. Good design. Bosch motor. A bit stiff on rough roads. On very steep hills, I can feel some burn in my thighs but it's not a lot of effort. On moderate hills I'm motoring up at 25...

Known Issues & Problems with Gepida Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

Hey, thanks for the post. I'd like sharing information with you about what's coming up for maintenance, questions, etc. Right now the gears on my are beginning to jump and shift without me doing anything. Brakes are not as grippy as I'd like after changing them. Update 2023: The Gepida SLX 10...

New brake pads don't stop that well

I've got to take the bike in for some fine-tuning. Gears are jumping and shifting by themselves. I wiped down the discs and they're ok. Part of the issue the brake handles need adjusted.
