2024 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

I rode 22 miles today to a nearby city park called Spring Lake. The picture is the house of the president of Western Illinois University. It’s a nice little shack that sits up high overlooking the college and town.

    Ebike class questions

It seems like unless you live somewhere the check these things you won’t have a problem as long as you keep your speed down and don’t ride like an idiot.

Do you wear cologne when you ride?

Nothing but the best for me, Old Spice Muskoxen. Go big or go home right? Actually no, I don’t wear any.

I passed the 1,000 mile mark on my Pedego City Commuter this week!

It’s a 10 year old thread, the OP is probably at 20,000 miles now.

I did 18 miles today. I posted a picture of an old silo a couple days ago, this is how they do it today. I’m not sure exactly how long these white plastic tubes are, maybe 300 feet. They are a like a heavy garbage bag. There is a machine that loads them and unloads them.

I ride 19 miles today, near where I live. Yesterday wasn’t great weather, not a lot of wind but very humid. Today windy but much nicer. A picture of an abandoned house. I don’t know why I always want to know what the story is. This house was resided and looked to be in good shape when it...

Where is the problem located at?

I googled bicycle front end shimmy and what I found is a front suspension can cause it and large heavy tires can also. I’m not familiar with your bike, does it have a larger heavier tire and front suspension?

8+ months of research, 100s of hours, know what I need & want but can't find it

Are your sure your inseam is short for your height? I’m a little over 6 feet tall and wear a 32“ inseam. I know someone who is a little taller than me who has a 30” inseam. Surely you can find a bike that fits you. I think I would worry about the fit more than anything else. I’d think at...

I did 25 miles today, around where I live. The first picture shows and old silo, the top gone. It’s made of of clay tile, roughly the size of a cinder block but clay and fired in a kiln. For those that don’t know silage is usually corn picked when it’s green, then stored and allowed to...

A couple of epic rides. Prairie Dog riding the cliffs of Canada, RabH riding what looks to be an acoustic bike, very impressive. Stefan forging large rivers in Poland. All of these great looking rides! I actually have some pictures from today’s ride that aren’t corn, bean fields, or broken...

WTF! Why do people cheat on fitness apps?

I didn’t see this thread until today and now it all makes sense. RabH doesn’t really ride a 100 miles in a day he just drives around the country side, takes his bike out of his vehicle, takes a picture, than repeats. I joke of course because that would take as much work as just doing the ride...

I did 25 miles this morning. About one fourth of the ride was on a road I hadn’t been on before. It was very hot but the wind was thankfully light and when it did kick up it was in my favor. I also hit 5000 miles on it today. A picture of a benchmark I rode by, who else but a surveyor would...

Ah, so THAT'S what's holding me back!

With my college degree I had a lot of physics and a class in dynamics. One thing you learn is something that is linear versus something that isn’t. If you pick up 100 pounds and carry it 20 feet and then carry it 40 feet it takes roughly twice the energy to go an extra 20 feet. Wind...

I rode 17 miles today, very hot and humid these days. A couple of pictures of the crops. The old saying used to be knee high by the 4th of July for corn this is already waist high.

HP brown sauce? Never heard of it here in the states. When you talked about your sandwich I’ve never heard of those words except bacon, we like bacon here in the states. 🥓. We recently spent two weeks in Ireland and some things were the same but many were different. Sugar, coffee, catsup...
