We rode 13 miles today. It’s turning very hot and humid with heat advisories. We finished before it got too bad. We rode through a neighborhood in town and saw this house that had a bad fire. I know someone who lives nearby and he said they are going to fix it. The pile of metal is the...

Stefan, the roads are pretty narrow. We were with a tour group on a brand new bus, I don’t know how that driver kept it scratch free but he did.

I road 17 miles today, I couldn’t get my wife to go with, it was very humid. A picture of an off road side by side, technically not road legal but you see them on the roads all the time. Also a picture of a patch of sweet corn. You can see how much shorter it is compared to the field corn in...

My wife and I did 20 miles today. She is starting to stretch out the distant a little. Perfect weather again, three days in a row with light winds, very rare around here. A train we had to stop for.

    Papers please!

I generally don’t see a lot of people abusing speeds on e bikes but it happens. We were on vacation in Idaho in Coeur d’ Alene and they had a bike trail and I saw people going about 30 mph on it, one with a bicycle with a small gas engine on it.

RabH, 55 miles really? Slacker, I didn’t think you got on the bike for less than a 100 miles. :D Nice ride as always! My wife and I went 15 miles today. I’ve got her riding pretty regular with me lately. It was near perfect weather, 72 degrees and a near calm day. Since I’ve gotten my e...

I rode 16 miles on the roads near our house with my wife today. We rode to Tennessee Illinois, population 99 and back. A picture of a train, there is a busy railroad in our area, the big post office in Tennessee, and crop dusters are hitting it hard and heavy lately.

What torque do I need ?

I agree with Deacon Blues, you probably want tour torque up in that 85 nm range. My Trek has a Bosc 50nm motor and on really steep hills you are working pretty hard. Throttles seem to be a love/hate thing on this forum but you might want one.

    Long distance travel by Ebike

I think it’s a good choice. On eco I’d say a battery will get you through an entire day on most days. I have a Trek Verve +3 and it has a 500 wh battery and it will get me 50 miles riding mostly on tour. If I was riding that far I’d turn it upon a higher power setting and enjoy the ride.

We met my sister in law and brother in law at a nearby state park called Weinberg King. We rode all the park roads twice and it was still only about 10 miles but it was a nice day. I plane was crop dusting a nearby field and flying very low over us.

GPS isn’t really that much worse in the vertical than the horizontal. Think about how the error might affect things. If you ride ten miles and the distance is off a 1000 feet, that’s not that much. If your climbing elevation is off 1000 feet, that’s a lot. Your elevation climbing amount is...

    Lubing an eBike chain

I use the Rock And Roll lube and it says to put the lube on at the cassette. I just spin the crank on backwards and drip it on pretty steady, let it set a couple minutes, back pedal it some more than wipe it down.

    Grinding noise-motor?

It turned out this was probably the chain ring in front. He put new pedals on also as they were worn. They didn’t charge me anything either. He felt bad I had to haul tge bike back again when I just had it there last Friday. He put parts on that were take offs. It’s nice to have a bike shop...

One thing with gps is it does better on distances than elevations. That said the errors should sort of balance out. I did a short ride today, I got rained on so I kept it short, 6 miles. I didn’t get any pictures on the ride but I shot a picture where I store my e bikes. This is a garage...

    Grinding noise-motor?

I had a new cassette and chain installed last Friday and now have a noise coming from what I think is the front motor, crank area. It’s a Trek Verve +3 with a Bosch Active Line motor. It has 5100 miles on it. It seems to do it in the lower numbered gears, say 1 through 6 but does it in all...

I rode 26 miles today. A large set of grain bins. This is where the farmer would store his grain temporarily after harvest. You can see a propane tank in the right side where they can heat the air they blow in the grain to dry it. They often turn on the blowers without heat when it first...
