Charging port cover - won't seat

Those rubber charge port covers have long since broken off all my batteries. So far, I've been able to find vinyl caps that fit. Yeah, they're easy to loose, but cheap so I just keep a handful in my battery bag.

How's the bike infrastructure where you ride?

When I last rode the main Cape Cod Trail in 2023, I was told by a park ranger at the trailhead in Dennis, that e-bikes were not allowed and asked to leave. I rode the Shining Sea and Cape Cod National Seashore trails instead. I've heard similar stories about e-bikes on the Cape Cod Canal MUPs...

Show us pictures of where you ride your ebikes!

Got a break from the heat on Tuesday and was able to do a 42 mile ride on the D&H Trail. It's built on the ROW of the now defunct Jefferson branch of the Erie RR. It runs north past Ramboe & Stillwater Lakes and through Sinkhole Swamp. Made the 1000' climb from Carbondale up to Ararat...

How's the bike infrastructure where you ride?

Of course this assumes you don't get run over by a drunk or distracted driver in the process.

What have you learned from your e-bike experiences?

I've learned two things: 1 - E-bikes are great for getting these old bones back in the saddle and to places I was never able to reach before. 2 - They are much heavier than my conventional bikes and more of a pain in the a$$ for these old bones to store & transport.

    Food Porn Rides

This brings back many fond memories of when I used to shellfish as a kid. I would ride my bike down Island Beach State Park in NJ. There are several hidden paths that lead from the park road to the bay on the western side of the island. If you know where to look, there are clam beds in shallow...

    Show Us a Tool

I've been watching Park Tools new PRS-30LB mechanical lift work stand since it was first introduced back in February. It wasn't widely available until June, and I was lucky enough to grab one before the initial run sold out...

    Tire Liners

Yeah, this would be a winter project for me as well if I hadn't busted that mag wheel.

    Tire Liners

I was planning on switching from Slime to Muc-Off. Thanks for the tip on using silicone grease. Can you just apply it to the valve core before installing, or does the grease need to be placed inside the valve stem? The same problem would happen with Slime over time. I would just remove the...

    Tire Liners

Yeah, I hate to give up on the Tannus. 5 seasons, two bikes and 15K miles without a flat. It did save my bacon recently when I hit a rock and broke a chunk out of my mag wheel rim. If it weren't for the stiff sidewall on the Tannus Armor, the tube would have blown out. Not sure why I wasn't...

    Tire Liners

After 5 seasons, I'm finally giving up on Tannus Armor. They are just too difficult to install and make on road tire repairs almost impossible. With some effort, I installed them on two bikes in 2020 but when I recently tried to replace them, I was simply not able to do it. Not sure why since...

    Damaged charger wire

From your picture, it looks like the DC (low voltage) cable. It appears to be damaged very close to the connector and there may not be enough good wire left to do a proper repair. Your decision to replace the charger is probably best.

    Damaged charger wire

If it's the cord on the AC side, unless you are comfortable with doing repairs on higher voltage wiring, I would either get a new cord (if replaceable) or a new charger. Repairs on AC or DC cords can usually be done safely with a variety of methods. I prefer these crimp connectors with heat...

    RideWithGPS

FWIW, the Montana also has a handlebar mount which lets you use 12V to power it. https://www.garmin.com/en-US/p/647145/pn/010-12881-03/ Not helpful for most e-bikes but I use a 12V buck converter for other 12V devices so I also use it to power my 700i. It also has audio leads if you want to...

Pennsylvania Rides | Meetups | Pennsylvania Riders

Anyone planning on riding the GAP (Great Allegheny Passage) in Pennsylvania, be aware the trail is closed due to a landslide between Rockwood and Markleton. I'm a member of the GAP Conservancy and just received this alert: Closure Between Rockwood and Markleton GAP Mile 48 | Reported on June...
