New Vado SL 4.0 - harsh ride!

SRAM tool say f 30, r 32.5 for my wife's weight. I'm running f 28 r 30, tubeless, 45mm tires with better than average suppleness. Did a 90 minute ride with my wife on the e-bike 2 days ago. She dislikes it and thinks it's uncomfortable up through the hands, couldn't imagine 6 hour day on it...

Are Praxisworks cranks the only option for SL 1.1 motor?

Ah ha. Got it. Shorter size for rock strike clearance on a MTB.

Are Praxisworks cranks the only option for SL 1.1 motor?

Hobowithin, IMO stick with the road version. I have MTB specific cranks on my 150mm travel enduro bike, which I use to slam over big rocks at 25mph. Any use of the Vado SL that actually required a mountain crank would break the frame, and be insanely unpleasant. The road cranks can easily...

Creo vs Domane+ SLR w TQ motor - anyone ride both?

Totally get it thanks. I picked the Domane+ with the closest reach, stack, VTT and SO to the medium Creo. The size names are semantics; the geo numbers are the actual size and shape of the frame. So essentially the 56cm Trek is the same as the Medium Spec, regardless of what they call them.

Creo vs Domane+ SLR w TQ motor - anyone ride both?

For me frameset geometry comes first. If the geo isn't right all else is pointless. Interestingly, a medium Creo and a 56cm Domane+ have virtually identical geometry as far as stack, reach, and tube angle go. Sitting on the bikes they will feel virtually identical. This is great if you/your...

New SL 1.2 motor - better range?

I've read plenty about more peak power and an ounce or two lighter, but what turns my crank (har har) is range at lower assist levels. Will the new motor likely go farther at 35%? At 60%? Thanks!

Are Praxisworks cranks the only option for SL 1.1 motor?

Anything outside of a Praxis crankset works? I think probably not but figured asking can't hurt :) Thank you!

New Vado SL 4.0 - harsh ride!

Funny but i rode a Vaya with GK slick 38's as my primary bike for 5 years! Swapped for a Cutthroat 3 years ago. Liked them both very much but the Salsa Cutty is in different class, so smooth over rough gravel and hangs with carbon road bikes on the pavement. I'm sure Stefan see a lot of them...

New Vado SL 4.0 - harsh ride!

The way your Vado is set up, and with the mud, it reminds me of the Salsa Fargo, which is pretty close to the wishlist frameset you describe. The Vado is relatively snappy and quick. Personally I think snappy and quick are a bit overrated in mainstream public hybrid bikes. The trade off is...

Swapping in new wheels on Vado SL 4.0 - where to mount the speed sensor magnet?

I tried two different 6 bolt magnets, Bosch and a generic, and neither worked on the Levo - not properly positioned w/o modifying, and magnets too weak. But the most recent Specialized one works! You can use a 6-bolt rear wheel on a Vado SL if you use this magnet: Specialized Part #...

New Vado SL 4.0 - harsh ride!

+1 - larger volume more supple tires, set up tubeless or with better than stock tubes, makes a MAJOR difference.

    Vado SL's - actual weights

Nice! Good reminder that accessories, food, water, etc add a lot of weight. So it's really nice that base weight of the Vado SL is low. A 55 lb e-bike can bloat up to 80 lb before you know it!

Tubolito patches work well on Tubolitos, but not on other brands. No idea why!

New Vado SL 4.0 - harsh ride!

In theory yes, could fit a suspension fork. The issue is geometry. Vado SL OEM fork is 390mm axle to crown. A mountain suspension fork would push the front end too high. You could fit a gravel suspension fork, adding 40-50mm A-C height for 40-60mm travel. The Vado geo could handle this rise...

Turbo Vado SL 4.0 Wheel Durability

TPU's are easy to repair! The patch is essentially just a sticker, similar to the Park Tool speed patches. The trick with patching TPUs is to use an alcohol wipe first. The patch area needs to be very clean and no oils for the sticker to adhere. The patches seem to work universally across...

New Vado SL 4.0 - harsh ride!

That's because of the fenders I'm assuming? It would be awesome if the Vado had clearance for fatter tires. Literally there is no downside to more tire space - You can still run skinny if you want. The bike is not only already boost spacing, but it has a wide q factor because of the motor...

    48t 104bcd chainring for Vado

11-46 is a nice cassette! Good wide range of gears there! I think I understand you on the oval ring not being right for an e-bike. I've never used one on an e-bike, and I've never felt compelled. But maybe the oval ring works in relationship too. The position of the crank arms, whether or...
