Should I buy a Vado SL, or Wait for the Release of the Version with the 1.2 Motor?

I actually appreciate the noise. It‘s how I know the motor is assisting as it’s usually too subtle otherwise.

    Rear derailleur life expectancy

An update. My LBS made a yeoman’s effort to fix this by adjusting the derailleur to no avail. After eliminating other variables, the diagnosis is that the derailleur spring is worn out. It seems to be a somewhat common problem with this model of Deore derailleur. There was a second issue - the...

Output Specialized e-bike power/cadence to Apple Watch via Bluetooth

I’m in the same situation, though I’ve only tried to connect once. So far. I will be trying again but first I need to have my drivetrain shifting taken care of. (I have another thread on that topic.) If I figure it out, I’ll share. If someone else figures it out and shares, thanks.

    Sora derailleur

I agree with your main point about the hanger, sort of. I just think bikes are actually pretty complex machines. Lots of parts, many of which have parts, especially the drive chain. But that’s not the real problem for me and I suspect many others. Not all of us have the special tools required...

    Rear derailleur life expectancy

Your response is why I asked the question. He spent quite a while working on the cable, checking to see if it traveled smoothly through the frame, and so forth. Not a problem. Checked and adjusted the cable tension both at the shifter and at the derailleur. No luck Thanks for all the replies so...

    Rear derailleur life expectancy

I’m curious. After about 5500 miles, the derailleur of my Vado SL (Shimano Deore 10 speed) no longer shifts consistently. Sometimes it can’t shift to the smallest cog other times the largest. Sometimes it won’t upshift, others it won’t downshift. I spent quite a bit of time with the mechanic at...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

Very interesting. Following your lead, I’ve been using Innerbarends which are great and found my posture was more aggressive. This has caused some hand numbness. That required some ongoing saddle position adjustment to bring me a bit closed to the handlebar so I’m not putting too much weight on...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

At least the parts were relatively inexpensive and easy to install. Small positives

Too hot for me (and e-bikes)!

My bike is always stored and charge indoors in my garage. As per M@Robertson, my garage is insulated and doesn’t get that absurdly hot. On the hottest day - 98 degrees outside, the garage was just 90. Its also heated during the winter. That said, I do pay attention on those very hot days. Just...

Too hot for me (and e-bikes)!

I get you. I was on a ride a couple of weeks ago when it was in the 90s. I thought the shady route would help. Then I nearly passed out from heat and dehydration during a several mile climb. Ebike didn’t help enough.

    Turbo Vado SL Front light

Depending upon what other devices you need to mount on your handlebars, you need as you know, a GoPro mount. The one I use is from Amazon: (towild Out Front Bike Mount Bicycle Edge Compatible with Garmin Bike Computer/XOSSG/G+/iGPSPORT,Combo Extend Mount ). They have many other variants. Hope...

    Firmware update for charging limit

You’ve got it right. I don’t worry. If I’m planning a longer ride or one with my group that I have to drive to, I do fully charge. BTW, I dId do several rides that got the battery to 5%. Only the second time in three years, I’d gotten that low.

    Firmware update for charging limit

Actually, I’d forgotten about the feature. I frequently take shortish rides of 10 to 20 miles, so don’t recharge that often. Also, since my rides only consume 20-30% of the available charge, I don’t notice the actual charge level percentage. Also, the LEDs aren’t that precise.

Charlie McCormick of DC's ElectriCity Bikes passed away

FWIW, the notice on the web site is that the closing is temporary. Perhaps, like with a restaurant under renovation that never reopens?

New SL 1.2 motor - better range?

We shall see how it goes. Personally, I hope any compromises made to achieve the greater performance are significant enough to make me not want to buy the eventual Vado SL when it arrives. I suspect my wife would not be happy any excuses I might make in order to buy one.

New Vado SL 4.0 - harsh ride!

Since my bike is an EQ, the rear light cabling was not an issue. It’s my understanding that folks drill a hole in the seat tube but I don’t understand how that would work with most suspension posts.

New Vado SL 4.0 - harsh ride!

When I got my SL 4 three years ago, I was too new to cycling (I was 72 at the time, but hadn’t ridden in over 50 years) to appreciate the potential harshness. I quickly began to understand the need for some sort of shock absorption. The recommendation of the members of this site, especially...

Vado SL and Red Shift Suspension Stem

I have the stem on my SL, as do other folks, and found a mount for a GoPro to which the light is attached while also adding a cycling computer to mount. (https://www.amazon.com/Compatible-Computer-iGPSPORT-Non-Slip-Handlebar/dp/B0BJNZ9J3V). There are several of these available on Amazon and...
