    Do I need cycling shoes?

If you happen to have plantar fasciitis, I’d recommend buying the stiffest shoe you can find. My experience says if you can walk in them as though they’re tennis shoes, they’re not stiff enough to prevent pain. I can walk okay in my MTB shoes, but I wouldn’t choose to do so for longer than...

    Do I need cycling shoes?

Not necessarily true. Many (all?) MTB shoes are specifically manufactured to grip the spikes. I have a pair of Specialized “2FO DH Flat Mountain Bike Shoes”, which are very stiff, and they don’t slide at all. In fact, I can lift a foot, and the pedal will come with it…..they’re still easy to...

Get a good helmet, and wear it.

My daughter is a horse trainer and teaches jumpers. She’s the one who told me about MIPS helmets, and requires her students purchase one before their first lesson. Standards may be different, but good helmets are available. Unfortunately, her business partner died about a year ago when she was...

    Do I need cycling shoes?

I’ll second what rich c said; MTB shoes. Like you, I want nothing to do with clips of any sort, but tennis shoes weren’t cutting it. I bought a pair of Specialized MTB shoes, and I’m thrilled with them. They’re super stiff, and they grip the pedals much better than tennis shoes.

    World War III

Haha, page 38 has only two posts, page 39 is blank, and only @PatriciaK on page 40. I guess I’ve effectively blocked the garbage. In fact, this thread has officially jumped the shark.

    Picking up a Trek Allant+ 9.9s Tomorrow

I’ve never had my iPhone 8 fall from the 9.9S mount. In fact, it’s held very securely. Maybe you saw reports from people who had a defective mount and didn’t realize it. The app isn’t as useful as something with Ant+, like the Specialized bikes, but it got me by. I still have the 9.9S, but...

    Cannabis, how is it legalized?

I believe your statement regarding people with opinions different from your own, which statement-type is common from both the political left and right, is what is creating the division in the U.S. This a democracy (or a republic if you prefer) with freedom of speech, where we can hopefully...

    My life was threatened....

Yeah, I try to be optimistic. Anyway, I expect to be dead of old age before it gets so bad that I’m afraid to go to the grocery store.😂

    My life was threatened....

But I would pay, as I do have a heart, and I do realize we have a mental health and drug crisis first. You’re making assumptions based on limited Internet forum conversations.

Oh, you mean he was opposed until he could get his cut? What’s new?

How to improve bike and pedestrian safety

A couple of days ago near me, a 13 year old boy riding his bike in a crosswalk was hit by a car and killed. The driver was sober, not speeding, and stayed at the scene. The flashing crosswalk lights were not operating. Now they’re talking about possibly charging the driver, but I say what about...

    Cannabis, how is it legalized?

Yeah, the seeds were like fireworks, and 3 or 4 people could get high from smoking a “lid”. Sometimes we’d be sick from the smoke before we’d feel a buzz. Then we found Thai Sticks and hash oil, so life was good.

    Cannabis, how is it legalized?

While we’re talking about this, I just happened to see that a Cannabis legalization bill was introduced in the U.S. Senate today. The odds of passing probably aren’t great, but maybe it’ll get the federal move a step closer...

    My life was threatened....

Yes, I think that is true as well. I’m conflicted on that, as I don’t want to see people sentenced to death-by-Covid, but on the other hand, they chose to commit the crime (assuming they’re guilty….which assumption shouldn’t be made in every case). Then, there’s the question of how serious the...

    Cannabis, how is it legalized?

Funny story; When I was about 19 or 20, I went camping with a few friends in Grays Harbor County, on the Washington coast. One night we were driving along the highway, passing a doobie around the car, and we were pulled over by a sheriff’s deputy. I was the driver, so I rolled down my window as...

    My life was threatened....

I understand where you’re coming from with that, but we’re not going to be forced out of our home. It’s a bizarre situation, as we live in what has always been a good area, and it just seems to be afflicted at the moment. Besides, we’d have to move out of the region, not just our neighborhood...

E- road bike for longer weekend rides

Now I have to find a suitable hill, so I can take on the challenge (I’m not much of an athlete, but I have a competitive nature). I do know it’d require Turbo for me to get up that kind of grade, even with the Bosch motor, but that may be a personal problem. 😊

E- road bike for longer weekend rides

Yeah, I don’t know if I’d make it up an 18% grade on my Creo, but I wouldn’t want to try it on my Trek 9.9S either. That’s one heck of a hill!

    My life was threatened....

We’ve had numerous break-in’s and attempted break-ins in our neighborhood. The most recent 3 incidents involved a meth-head who was released by a judge, after being advised the man is psychotic and a danger to others. The psychologist couldn’t even actually interview him, because he had s*it in...

    My life was threatened....

Dude, if I started googling and posted all examples of uncalled-for release of criminals by judges, I’d be here all day. You can look into it for yourself, or remain unconvinced. It really doesn’t matter to me. As to the racism issues, I’m sure you’re right about the disproportionate numbers...
