    A Real Innovator

I also love the idea of enclosing the chain inside the swingarm in an oil bath. Probably the best solution for an ebike exposed to dirt and water.

    A Real Innovator

Allen Millyard makes you tube videos show casing his engineering and fabrication skills. His creations are so creative and rethink common practices for the better. Unlike most so called bike manufacturers who build bikes by ordering from a catalog he starts from scratch and builds most of his...

    Poor Mans Satiator

So looking back at my original idea I was after some way of extending my battery life without spending a lot of money. Others have come up with other ways of achieving the same thing. Good for you. To everybody else it shows that it can be done.

    Poor Mans Satiator

What your missing is that you need to run a different routine every time, how long does it take to setup a new routine and load it. For me 10 seconds for a custom routine adjusting delay and length of charge.

Does everyone use a torque wrench?

Only use one one engines. For everything else I just make a click sound when I feel it’s tight enough. 😜

    Battery maintenance question

I live in Mississauga right next door to Toronto and I would recommend indoor charging and storage over the winter. Keeping it on the bike from April to November should be no problem, in fact charging the battery in a cool environment is an advantage.

What are your plans for winter exercise? Keep riding your ebike or an exercise bike?

I have covers for the handlebars to keep my hands warm, good winter boots with thick wool socks and wear several layers to keep my torso warm. I limit winter rides to 15-20k and don’t ride during snowfalls or icy conditions. When I was younger I would do spinning classes twice a week and they...

    Poor Mans Satiator

My point is that I spend less than 10 seconds start to finish. In the time you take to talk to Alexa to tell her when to turn on and when to turn off I am already done. Nothing to do with internet speed, just the speed of simplicity.

    Poor Mans Satiator

The length of charge and the delay of starting the charge is highly variable, I think it would be safe bet that I could plug in my battery set the timer and completely forget about it faster than you get a response from Alexa.

    Poor Mans Satiator

Although the Grin Satiator is the very best ebike battery charger I just can’t get past the high initial price. So in order to maximize my battery life I came up with this simple solution. Use a cheap mechanical rotary timer. The older ones can be set to 15 minute increments. Mine is around 30...

    New ebike studies

Although it had pedals Cowells bike was a motocross motor cycle. 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds I believe. That is no ebike. A Harley would not be able to catch it.

Think your bike lock will work?

Even the best lock only buys you 2 minutes from a skilled thief. The location where you park and your ability to keep an eye on your bike are critically important. If you develop a habit of parking your bike at the same place and time thieves can take advantage of that and plan a targeted theft...

    Transporting Folding bikes

I have two folding Pedago ebikes that are quite heavy so me and my wife lift them together which is very easy.

    Belt or chain!?

I own both a chain drive and a belt drive ebike. The belt drive has no maintenance, it’s silent and it’s clean. If the chain is stronger then why does it stretch? I don’t miss getting my hands greasy maintaining a chain. I would buy a pinion belt drive hub motor bike for commuting/road riding in...

Cycling to work lowers risk of death by 20%, says NIHR Census study

I only ride to work if the conditions are perfect. Luckily for me 90 percent of the ride is on a bike path. I feel so much better when I arrive when riding compared to driving. An added bonus is less wear and tear on the car plus saving money on gas.

Hunting e bike for road use

Keep in mind that at higher speeds the battery will drain much faster. So recalculate you’re ange every time you up your speed. At 30 mph vs 18 I would guess your range would be reduced 75%. Thinner, smoother tires would help the equation.

Another reason to ride an ebike: privacy

Apps like the Specialized Mission Control track you’re every movement while you ride. I have given up on trying to prevent tracking. I enjoy the all of the features of modern technology but I understand that it comes at a price. Overall I prefer to have all of the modern toys and their benefits.

SHOW us YOUR PIX here .... Odd, WeiRd ,UnUSuAl or EyE CaTchIng things from your rides

The only orange beach I know of. Runs about 300 feet. The site was a clay pipe factory until the seventies. All the rejects were thrown in the lake and the waves broke up the pieces.
