Sub $3000 Leisure/Commuter Bike For Hilly Area [Final Choice: Priority Current]

Right. I'm going about it slowly. I checked with Lemonade (the cheapest renter's insurance) and State Farm so far. Both categorize ebikes as motorized vehicles and exclude them from the renter's policy.

Also today I started looking at insurance. If I'm going to spend $3000 and live in a big city, I think insurance is worth thinking about. I realized that most renter's insurance policies don't cover e-bikes. Velosurance is $250/yr for my area and a $3000 bike.

    Priority Current: Class 3 Urban Mid-Drive Belt E-Bike, 500W, Integrated Removable 500WH Battery, 140 NM, $3300 S/M/L

Possibly both - maybe a supplier w/ parts shortage hiked up the price...

Not the same deal, but just got my first Thudbuster ST for $60. According to the owner, he bought it earlier this year, used on a single very long 300mile ride, and never again.

Priority Bicycles just launched the most affordable Gates belt mid-drive e-bike

Looks like Priority is shipping the new Currents (Shimano) this week! If you recently ordered one and receive the Shimano version, please share your experience here :)

Another question for you all. I recently saw a suspension seatpost (used, but not abused) being sold locally for cheap. Are those fine to buy used? I tend to buy a lot of used stuff on discount, but I'm new to the bike world.

Velofix comes to you. I think Art Deco might be referring to the fact that if you want to return an online ebike you need to pay for shipping both ways.

Sub $3000 Leisure/Commuter Bike For Hilly Area [Final Choice: Priority Current]

One of the things I've learned from last year and my discussions, is that perfect is the enemy of the good. Last year I had the same mentality, always waiting for a shiny new model that would solve everything. In the end, there was always a problem with it. The R1U mid drive will be announced...

Agreed. Unfortunately, finding a Turbo Como 3.0 at a LBS nowadays is easier said than done.

Another point that is highly overlooked by people like me, who are going for their first e-bike and need to watch their budget, and this goes back to what all of you had told me, is serviceability. I have talked to multiple LBS about paying for assembly of an online e-bike or assembling it...

Sub $3000 Leisure/Commuter Bike For Hilly Area [Final Choice: Priority Current]

Exactly - and that's the polish aspect that I enjoyed about these bikes. More reliable and durable. Parts work better together. I intend to do that! I am away from home right now - just happened to be close to a bike shop that had a Transcend (and only that!). It was very convenient. Once I'm...

Sub $3000 Leisure/Commuter Bike For Hilly Area [Final Choice: Priority Current]

It's under Specs - 64 pounds w/ battery... a bit heavy indeed, but I guess if you are going to have a 1000W motor you will need more battery or you will have a 10 mile range lol Honestly, not sure - I don't particularly like how they look, but I guess I can't be picky about everything and still...

Sub $3000 Leisure/Commuter Bike For Hilly Area [Final Choice: Priority Current]

Hmmm - it's tough. I wouldn't say I didn't like it. It just wasn't quite what I expected. The same exact package but with more power would have been perfect - I just can't afford it lol. I still much prefer the more natural feel of torque sensor versus cadence. Since they're not nearly as...

Giant Momentum Transcend E+ vs Priority Current

My layman opinion is that the Shimano will work better for flat surfaces, as it can reach higher gears and you won't have to pedal as furiously to get to 28mph. The Enviolo works better on hills due to being able to shift lower. Essentially this means that, for your problem of lack of power on...

Giant Momentum Transcend E+ vs Priority Current

Thanks for sharing. This is great feedback to know! It's a shame to hear about the motor. It is somewhat in line with what I heard from another user. It's definitely hard to believe those torque claims. Also, companies will always try to defend their products. When I asked about motor power...

Giant Momentum Transcend E+ vs Priority Current

Citi (from Citibank) Bike is a bike sharing system that operates in NY. Many other companies operate similar systems in different cities. The term is sometimes colloquially used to designated this type of bikes as a whole...

Giant Momentum Transcend E+ vs Priority Current

I think what he means with #1 is that the citibikes, regardless of motor type, usually have upright riding positions with swept back handlebars to please more casual riders. For #2, it's what I said: hub motors make extremely poor use of gears, so you're usually better off not using them at all...

Giant Momentum Transcend E+ vs Priority Current

I did a test ride of the Momentum Transcend E+ today. It was definitely an interesting and much needed experience. My takeaway is that I just had poor expectations. I expected too much power from a mid drive bike, when in reality it wasn't that much different from the hub bikes I have tried in...
