So what's the guess on the new Lectric ONE product coming March 12?

With a company like Lectric, products are backed by warranty, customer service are readily available, even purchases made can be disputed with your credit card company, I don't see much danger to 1st gen product with them. I've purchased Lectric XP, XPTrike (excellent value for $1500) in the...

    Ghost Pedaling

To me, the term "ghost pedaling" is rider not using the proper gearing or relying on the motor (not putting much effort) into the ride. Turn down the PAS level and put more effort into your ride. if it gets too hard to pedal, slow down and shift to an easier gear. If you're cruising at top speed...

    I crashed today

It's different for every rider. Each of us ride in different environment, different traffic pattern, different situations. I mostly ride in large metro traffic, among lots of motorized vehicles and need to filter through between cars, etc.. I take it easy, stay vigilant of my surroundings...

Bicycle Deaths in New York City Are at a 23-Year High

I've been commuting between Hoboken, Manhattan and Brooklyn on bicycles since 2013. Traffic pattern for cyclists have changed drastically better for cyclists since. The pace in the city is different from most anywhere else, even for walkers, let along cyclist or motorists. As one of the most...

Total e-bike ban after a fatality in Key Biscayne, FLA

If you can afford a Super73 for your child, you can afford your insurance go up ten fold when accident occur and deemed your child responsible. That should have parents think twice before buying an ebike. I'm not a proponent when it comes to mandatory insurance for ebikes, but parents should...

Encinitas City Council declares emergency for e-bikes, bicycles

From article in my previous post: The importance of the issue has arisen partly due to an actual increase in e-bike fires, but also largely due to a media frenzy that has blown the issue out of proportion. While e-bike fires do occur in the US, they represent one of the lowest risks of all...

    Electric Car thread

$300 annual, $150 per 6 month (liability ony). For a 14 year old car with 267k mi., that's been paid in full, there is not much need for collision coverage. I insure multiple cars and have good driving record and motorcycles, too. All of my cars are at least 10 years or older, zero car loans.

I bought my used 2010 Prius with 100k + mi. for $6500 back in 2016. Currently it has over 260k mi., cost me about $300 to insure (liability only), still get around 50 mpg. Original HV battery, original engine. I still drive it 300 mi. per week.

I think I understand New York's ebike fire problem a little better now.

Bike shops are starting to get massive insurance hikes if they allow e-bikes into their shop (even for a tire issue or similar). This thread: ( https://www.reddit.com/r/ebikes/comments/19d7l4l/ebikes_and_the_bike_shop_it_might_be_over ) shows a bike shop owner receiving a threat to cancel...

I would love some suggestions for the right e-bike for me

Depends on what fork you plan on using for the front motor to be installed. 26", 20" front motor wheels are pretty common and readily available, 24", 16" & 14" front motor wheels are less common but available. I have a 20" & 24" front motor wheel, both are for 100-110mm fork spacing with disc...

I would love some suggestions for the right e-bike for me

I bought a Lectric XPTrike for my 86 y-o father-in-law. Prior to the pandemic, he was riding a step-thru ebike with fat tires, 4-5 mi. to his favorite fishing spot, local grocery store in Queen NY. Since then, he's been less active; pandemic has really scared him, since the trailer full of...
