    Need new bike advice

The M600 on the Luna X-2 is 95nm max. My Z-1 (160nm) did require two chains, and two full rear cassettes per year. But I ride extremely hard. I put a Rohloff 14 Speedhub on my Z-1 22 months ago and it is runs very nicely. I still need two chains per year.

    Need new bike advice

You will want the Bafang mid drive product for power, reliability, ubiquitous parts supply. Forget rear hubs. I would look at the Luna Cycle X-2. It's carbon fiber, weighs 58lbs, and uses the Bafang M600 which will power you up the hills with throttle or torque sensing. There aren't many...

    Need new bike advice

Based on prvious posts, you've owned a BBSHD and an Ultra Zen Photon with torque sensing. Do you still have the Photon? Were those motors powerful enough for you?

    Bafang Ultra Greasing Gears

I concur with @JRA. Installed Cornhead in July 2022. Opened it up and slathered some more in April 2023 (see pic). Getting ready to check it again this month. I just slathered it in there very unscientifically.

Would like to jailbreak my Aventure

I don't think it's possible on the Aventon product line. I had two Aventon Levels, and my friend has an Aventure. We installed new KT Controllers and Dislpays instead, which are not restricted.

Would like to jailbreak my Aventure

What are you trying to achieve? Cadence or torque sensing on your model?

Riding Towards Quality: A Call to End Low-Cost Compromises in the Bike Industry

That's easy, everybody just needs to buy high quality bikes. Unfortanately, not everyone can afford, or justify higher priced quality at first. I understand your "Call", but you cannot thwart the invisible hand of the market, which will always provide for an endless supply of cheap products...

Performance Report: Installed a Rohloff IGH on my Luna Z1 Bafang Ultra Mag in April 2023

I cannot believe how sweet it is when paired with the ever powerful Ultra. A total pleasure to ride, glad you are digging yours as well.

Performance Report: Installed a Rohloff IGH on my Luna Z1 Bafang Ultra Mag in April 2023

Sorry to hear that he busted the hub. One thing I have done is eliminate my throttle. I never used it while riding, the torque sensing really works well for me. I've been running the full 30A on my Ultra with no problems. Out of curiosity, do you remember how many teeth he was running on the...

Does my ideal bike exist already?

    Probably not.

Bosch, Shimano or Bafang motor on etrike?

I've had a BBSHD on my DIY Fat Bike since 2021. It is very powerful, quiet , and reliable. I've abused it very much IMO. My riding buddy put a BBS02 on his MTB in 2021, same story. You cannot go wrong if you want raw power and relaibility. However, I would go with the Bafang Ultra (or ant Bafang...

How's the bike infrastructure where you ride?

4" of snow last week. At 10:00 PM they were plowing miles and miles of paved trails. Next day they were all clear. Amazing.

    Pinion Motor.Gearbox.Unit (MGU)

If I lived in Europe, I would tollally have 1,500 Watt ebike, somehow. I'd defintely be an Outlaw, and no doubt suffer the fate of an Outlaw. But I would do it. Certainly in a rural mountain setting. In Lake Como I was with my Brother in Law. He broke his collar bone and smashed his knees...

    Pinion Motor.Gearbox.Unit (MGU)

I rented a Bianchi eMTB in Lake Como Italy a few years back. I felt that restriction resitance once I went over 15mph while riding on the main roads. Very irritating.
