2025 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

The biggest issue is the wheel turning as you lift, the drop on the other side is the biggest effort and the front tyre banging into the fence pushing the bike further away from your balance point. I have thought of a simple device to hold the headset stiff that can be engaged and disengaged...

It was the wooden strut across it about 12 inches high, you couldnt get past the bike to lift the front wheel over, I had to climb over the bike, lift the wheel. Then climb back to do the same with the back wheel. It weighs 53lbs

The Ride to Preston I made a lot of mistakes at the start of the ride, getting across this bridge was ludicrously difficult. Can some one tell me why cows love to congregate around the fence, I had to throw the bike over the fence while the big one watched my every move. It never gets easy...

    Bafang G062 motor change

How do you lnow the motor itself is broken? The Bafangs just have the three big phase wires and five for the halls, pos, neg and three halls. Some have an extra for temp or speed. You really need an adaptor, dont know of such a part. Most controllers will work with just the three big ones...

Just visited Preston, a city about 30 miles up from us, built on the River Ribble. My goodness, you can see what the Victorians built, now its a decaying corpse of itself, the architecture, the parks ,the tree lined paths. Stunning hilltop mansion estate, just abandoned to the kids wrecking it...

Hilariously I had a CB radio in my car with a 100W booster, and would park in next to the vans in the morning.

Just joined the e-bike world - wow!

Its a mid drive, so there shouldnt be any extra issues, you can make fat tires tubeless, but its more fiddly

Absolutely awesome, I did a short apprentice with the tracker guys. Those AM transmitters could make household appliances produce music.

I remember our friend married a guy from Seattle, they all came over back in the late 90s and we were sat around a table and the brought up Ozzy and his dopey sounding voice I chimed in that he was simply from Birmingham and they all talk like that, so I broke into my best Brummie accent, and...

Thats a hell of a styled bike, looks invincible. If youre happy with the downsides of fatties, they do look the business and Bafangs are also built to last and be fixed

How's the bike infrastructure where you ride?

I will admit to pavement/sidewalk riding, on a lot of my exploring rides I need to use a main country road to get to the next village, they are 60mph roads and because we put sidewalks everywhere, they are perfect to ride on as no one actually walks on them, they literally go through miles of...

No one was playing out but it was such a beautiful day that I just had to beach it. Kite surfers down the other end of the beach, one guy just kept riding up and down for miles. I threw half my fish and chips to the seagulls, even this far away they wouldn't drop to grab it. No wonder they...

    Fun with AI

I wanted a video thumbnail, so I took this picture of a carbon levo Put it into an online AI image generator with the prompt 'make background mountains and sunset'. It even rendered the red reflection on the rims, took about 15 seconds, it nailed the spokes perfectly as well.

A German describing what various English accents sound like to him. Such a perfect way to do it British speech patterns sounded slack to me, as if the speakers had a tinge of discomfort and phlegmatism about them, but that contrasts with the more varied tone of voice esp. of speakers from...
