I first put on too much tape, then took layers off until the battery slid in nice and tight without removing the tape. So far so good and it's easy to renew if there ever is a problem.

I forgot to mention, use a rubber band with the ziploc bag so it doesn't blow off.

I've only ever seen one size grip area, the difference in bar size is in the center mounting area.
