E-bike user survey: charging pattern and market perspective

    Digital Torque Wrench

I've got 3 torque wrenches, 1 is left unused as my calibration tool. I've thrown two away over the years when they go out by more than 5% - both a beam type and a dial up type. Admittedly the beam unit was OLD - a trusted tool and very much my favourite. When working on carbon, I find myself...

Question about brakes on any/ all bicycles with rim or disc brakes

Even cars have different forces front to rear, but if you really want to learn why you don't apply the same force at the same time front to rear on a two wheeled vehicle , try a little experiment - run front and rear off the same line, and fit an equal disk front / rear. Now go down hill and hit...

Question about brakes on any/ all bicycles with rim or disc brakes

Before swapping lines, check if your brakes can simply be swapped over - eg some sram models. PS - I'm in Australia, all our bikes come with the right set up - motor, e, and me bikes. It just makes sense - grab a hand full of clutch and it's just a harmless rear wheel lock up

    Knee Protection on the Trail

Tell the truth, you hold onto the bike for protection against other riders

    Knee Protection on the Trail

Yes it is, the bike then cartwheels , lands on top of you, and then things get REALY messy. I've seen it happen with the death grip riders - people who have been told to stay with the bike in a crash

    Knee Protection on the Trail

I guess I wasn't clear enough - I don't crash often NOW. To be honest, I've only crashed 4/5 times in the last 20 years , and that's combining motorbike AND bicycles. It's called riding within ability. But lifetime crashes? I grew up on bmx , dirt bikes , mountain bikes, skateboards.... From 4...

    Knee Protection on the Trail

I'll confess to not crashing often , but when I do the last thing I want is to be tangled in the bike! The moment I recognise physics is winning I'm looking for the least painful plan B - and the bike isn't part of that plan! For me G form elbow pads - unobtrusive, and reasonable first impact...

    The transition

WOW, that's some pretty high tech digital technology for the era - makes you wonder if there was some sort of time travel thing going on, or perhaps mass demonic intervention? Ummm....I'm assuming you saw the wink emoji? No need to notify the local psych team....

    The transition

So you're saying the moon landing was all high tech digital imagery rather than a video hoax? Can we quote you on that :)

"Why I STILL do not own an E-MTB (Despite having everything else)": an interesting video

Stefan, you might have missed his point with that statement - he's essentially saying it doesn't MATTER if he gets an ebike - not that he's afraid of anything. To be honest, the video is a fair representation of why a reasonably fit and capable rider isn't excited / bothered about moving to an...

    The transition

I wonder what the russian / chinese PR machines did with similar footage from the new york model a few years back - when illegal " ebikes" were confiscated?

    Electric Car thread

No, our ford ute market is dominated by the ranger , and until recently we didn't even have official f150 imports! Even the mighty falcon went out of production about 5 years ago. We don't have any petrol utes left, no hybrids, and I think the only EV ute is a chinese ldv thing that was only...

    Electric Car thread

I keep hearing that phev are the worst of both worlds, but I'm hoping they SHOULD make sense for what I do. Mon, Tues, Thurs and Fri are short trips to work / around town - easily within the limited ev range of a phev. On Wed I travel for recreation - I alternate weeks between sailing - 65 km...

Newest Specialized App (black icon) Drains Apple IPhone Battery

You definitely don't need the app connected , in fact it's been so long since my bike was connected that my phone has mission control build 180 - rather than the current 1058 ! I think I set the power % , recorded half a ride, then turned mission control off a few years ago...

Saddle pressure, numbness, and maintaining sexual health at 59

Eos, the god of the dawn , who rose every morning..... There's a subtlety to your spelling that would be good advice - start each day in a happy way. At 59 , it might be worth having a chat with your gp ?

Bicycle Deaths in New York City Are at a 23-Year High

So 30 new Yorkers died whilst cycling, and 10 did it all by themself? ( how many heart attacks?) Meanwhile, gun related deaths were over a thousand. https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/pressroom/sosmap/firearm_mortality/firearm.htm OK, there might be a subset of cycling AND gun related deaths, so what...

    Dutch Police not messing about.

Airlie is a tourist destination , and a LONG way from a trauma centre. The roads are shared by drugged out backpackers in hire vans as well as dehydrated farmers ... so it makes sense to tell pedestrians to assume every car will kill them! At most Australian towns , pedestrians have right of...
