Got my new Explore E+1 GTS today!

My recollection of the discussion with Giant shop staff was that the spec'd derailleur was Deore (not XT) Shadow+ (eg. with clutch) and the substituted one was an SLX without the clutch. So its an upgrade in terms of the Shimano lineup but possibly not if you plan on using the Explore as an MTB...

Got my new Explore E+1 GTS today!

Just FWIW - While the spec'd derailleur is the Shadow+, my Explore E+ 1 came with an upgraded derailleur without clutch (sorry the exact model escapes me). The folks at the Giant shop where I bought it said that Giant will make an upgrade substitution when they have supply issues on the spec'd...

    Improve Wiring for lights?

Yeah the fender has embedded foil traces used for the lights. If the connections are not robust (so far mine have been) I’d run my own wire tie wrapped to the MIK rack and down the tube and splice it at each end.

Handle bar mirrors for Explore E+ 1

No, I did not find a mirror I am happy with - I bought a small helmet mounted mirror but I don't like it. In terms of the front shock, I found that it has not lost pressure much recently. I suspect when it was new, the seals just needed to work a bit to get some oil onto them and now they...

Handle bar mirrors for Explore E+ 1

Cool - that would be nice to have the ODOM, etc. correct - the install doesn't look too scary but certainly not the sort of thing you can revert in 5 minutes. Hope it works well for you ! 👍

Handle bar mirrors for Explore E+ 1

Yes, the one I used changes speed and distance displayed on the bike display - I use my iPhone with the Wahoo app to display HR and GPS based speed and distance anyway and I find its simple enough to 2x the speed shown on the bike display if I don't have my phone with me (but, yes, the bike...

Handle bar mirrors for Explore E+ 1

The product I installed is called a "BadAss Box" - https://www.badassebikes.com/en/ essentially it makes the controller think its going 1/2 the speed that it is and so it doesn't cut off the assist. I've been using it for a while now and I have had no issues so far. If I want to push things...

Handle bar mirrors for Explore E+ 1

I know exactly what you are talking about. Turning assist off won't help - that drag isn't any real drag - its simply that all of a sudden you are having to provide the full power to the drive chain without any assistance from the motor. So it feels like suddenly you have an extra load...

Handle bar mirrors for Explore E+ 1

I love it - TBH I have not had a higher quality bike before so the components on this bike are so much nicer than anything I've ridden. Shifting is just so crisp and clean compared to what I was used to and the disk brakes have a ton of power. I did defeat the speed limiter (eek) as I found I...

    Giant Explorer +1

LOL - yeah, I just tried doing my commute completely on ECO and, yeah, the smaller front sprocket was very useful on the long uphill grinds …

Handle bar mirrors for Explore E+ 1

Curious if anyone has a good solution for a handle bar mounted mirror for the Explore E+ 1 GTS (which comes with the small bar ends) ? I like the idea of a mirror which mounts at end of the handle bar but then I find I am making a lot of use of the bar ends during my commute to change hand...

    Giant Explorer +1

Isn't it great ? I've had mine for a month or so - only put about 160 km on it so far but I have to say I agree the smaller front crank seems a little superfluous when getting EV assist. Perhaps if trying to go further distances with less battery use or on steep trails ? I just added a...

Giant Explore E+ 2 - possible to upgrade from Ridecontrol One to Evo?

I also tried using the HRM belt from my Garmin Forerunner and it would not sync with either the Giant eBike (wasn't sure if the EVO display had Ant capability) or my iPhone (no surprise there, iPhone doesn't support Ant). I figured the issue was Ant vs Bluetooth so I purchased a Wahoo Tickr...

Giant e bike app- any experience with it?

I had this issue yesterday but I exited the app and shutdown the controller on the bike - then on restart all was OK Seems a little flakey still.

Giant RideControl App - compatible HR monitors ?

Just getting used to my new 2019 Explore E+ 1 bike and have been using RideControl & Strava to track my rides. I noticed RideControl appears to show a heart rate dataset and seems to allow setting HR goals so I purchased a Bluetooth HR monitor (Wahoo Fitness TICKR) and while I can get Strava...
