Show us pictures of where you ride your ebikes!

Well, tides can create currents, which can create dangerous conditions, including tide rips (aka "overfalls"), whirlpools, and rapids in narrow, shallow channels such as often found at the entrances to "lagoons" along the BC coast and Vancouver Island. Deception Pass in Washington is such a...

I'd call that ruffled water in the river a tide rip, not a rip tide. There is a difference, though admittedly both terms are a bit lame in that neither phenomenon involves tides as such.

Using a Pet Trailer with a Ride1Up Turris?

My belief is that animals of all species have exactly as much brain power/intelligence as they need--except I'm doubtful about humans. I'm also dubious about trees; look at the precarious places where they sometimes decide to take root.

Front page LA Times today regarding Ebikes

Forgot to mention their routers, which are very light duty, and have only a 1/4" collet. Hard to beat Porter Cable routers, and I have both the 690 and the 7518. Their main advantage, besides the robust construction, is the 1/2" collet. Sears, last time I looked, did not have any with 1/2"...

Yeah, I have used and abused a Ryobi impact driver for years. Never a whimper out of it. But some of their tools don't do it for me, such as their little bench saw (although all little bench saws, such as B & D, Skil, etc. are pretty light duty. I'd rate Bosch and Porter Cable as medium duty...

    What size is my wheel?

Another way to measure height is to hold a stick or pencil at arm's length, sighting on the thing you want to measure, moving your thumb along the stick to match the perceived tallness; then rotate your hand to the horizontal, and measure that distance on the ground. Works for stuff of moderate...

Speaking of the good old days, when I was a kid we could ride standing up on the front seat. Everybody looked with great suspicion on the first seat belts that came out. Of course they were optional. I don't remember anyone of my acquaintance ever having a serious accident.

    "Current-based" cadence-sensing from Ride1up

I love to greet dogs being walked on trails. Out of courtesy to the dog, I always ask the dog walker what pronouns the dog prefers. No one has hit me yet. Nor has a dog bitten me.

Question about brakes on any/ all bicycles with rim or disc brakes

The trick to raising a dropped motorcycle is to stand with your back to the bike, crouch down with bent knees, gripping the bike, and use your knees to raise the bike. I am small and not strong, yet I was able to raise my 650 Silverwing this way. Better, of course, not to drop the bike.

I have a Ryobi 40 volt mower, and it is amply powerful for mowing my admittedly small lawn. I also have extra 40 volt batteries that I keep charged up. In fact, the mower itself has a special slot to stow the extra battery so it's with you always. This is not a self-propelled mower, so it...

In depth article by Bicycling Mag on the lawsuit against Rad regarding a girls death

I have a 6 year old grandson who decided to test the fire extinguisher at school. We are concerned about his lack of impulse control. Which is generally a problem with the typical immature person.

I'm with you. I have switched every yard tool possible (with exception of small roto tiller) to battery power. Quieter, and no cranky hard starting engine, no fuel to buy, no carburetor gumming up, no blue smoke. I've had a belly full of two-strokes.

Front page LA Times today regarding Ebikes

I have concern about teenagers of either gender driving autos with their friends along. Too easily distracted. We had an incident in Bellingham a few years ago where a girl driving her friends around rear-ended another car which had stopped at a crosswalk and killed a toddler in the crosswalk...

Do you wear cologne when you ride?

We do a lot of salt water camping (via kayak), where we may be out for more than a week. Dawn is a remarkable product, in that it suds up great in salt water as well as cold water, and is a very effective shampoo. Even my wife swears by it.

Riding Clothes - In Praise of Clown Suits

Most of the kayakers around here (Bellingham) wear Gore Tex dry suits, which mostly function very well. The GT that they use for a dry suit is about the ultimate, as it has to keep you dry while totally submerged (unless you fail to close the zipper all the way). My experience with it, even on...

I passed the 1,000 mile mark on my Pedego City Commuter this week!

Unfortunately, as long as we continue breathing, we are adding to the CO2 in the atmosphere. Also, and maybe worse, is our flatulence. Cattle are blamed for a lot of methane emission, but 8 billion people farting can't be a good thing. Even if we captured that methane and burned it, the CO2...

Addmotor's new mid drive 1000W split rear differential trike

Do Harley type 3 wheelers have that kind of instability in maneuvering tight turns? I've had a sneaking hunch that the guys who ride those are afraid of two-wheelers, but maybe that's not fair.

Addmotor's new mid drive 1000W split rear differential trike

If I was leaning toward a trike, I'd prefer the pair of wheels in front, with the driving wheel in back. I've seen in one of these threads such a beast, with the front wheels articulated--similar to the Piaggio MP3. But I don't know what the relative stability is in comparing these...
