Do you support the US federal E-BIKE act?

I wasn't over-politicalizing it any more than you just did. I doubt we can discuss these issues without them being in the shadows of politics. But you're correct & I was wrong, as I dug a little deeper, America is still a net exporter ...

Do you support the US federal E-BIKE act?

The USA was a net energy exporter under the last administration. The strategic goal of being energy independent had been met until the current admin reversed it under the guise of environmental protection while concurrently drawing down the strategic oil reserves to dangerous levels. EV's...

Vado SL EQ rear rack with backroller AND Box?

It's unfortunate that your friend might have to replace the rack on the EQ. But one plus about changing it is the carrying capacity would increase. The weak spot of the EQ is the fender mounted rack. The fender offers lower structural support and starts to flex. or worse, if overloaded. IIRC...

Vado SL EQ rear rack with backroller AND Box?

You can still use a seat post clamp with the extra threads. Just mount it above the proprietary Specs clamp but you might have to shim it with a thin strip of rubber.

Do you support the US federal E-BIKE act?

So, what is the target level of CO2? What are the "very real and damaging effects"? What is "net zero" vs "reducing production to sustainable levels? Does this mean totally eliminating fossil fuels? How do EV's (RPV's) with battery materials sourced from high polluting countries like China...

Do you support the US federal E-BIKE act?

Given how well the various governments operate around the world, I have no doubt those vary same governments can manage the earth's climate. 🙄 SMH, that anybody thinks RPV's will have any meaningful impact.

Do you support the US federal E-BIKE act?

Not sure how we subsidize driving being as the fuel taxes and registration costs, especially here in Calif., are so high. But I'm sure the .gov does, as you say, in some way. The EV credit income levels are ridiculously high: $300,000 for married couples filing jointly $225,000 for heads of...

Do you support the US federal E-BIKE act?

We need to stop subsidizing all RPV's. Especially ones that favor the more affluent folks such as the EV tax credit. 🤔

    1UP-USA Racks - I'm a fan

Were these racks the black anodized or the silver? I've heard the black fades over time.

Anyome tried a Racktime Shine Evo IMM on their non Turbo Vado SL 4.0

I used a 31.8mm rack mount seat post clamp and put a strip of rubber between it and the seat post. I had a rubber strip / reducer left over from a handlebar bell that was perfectly sized. It's solid.

Two different Turbo Vado SL 5.0s?!

It's out of stock on the Specialized site but not necessarily at some bike stores. Leaving it on the site allows folks to do a search for LBS availability.

Two different Turbo Vado SL 5.0s?!

That's weird, I see two different 5.0 EQ's, one at $4k and one at $4.5K, just minutes ago.

Two different Turbo Vado SL 5.0s?!

"They’re both on sale and, weirdly, the one that was originally more expensive has a less expensive sale price." It looks like the main difference between the two is the drivetrain. The less expensive sale priced bike has Sram GX vs the higher priced bike with Shimano SLX. Purely speculation on...

    Tube vs. Tubeless on ebikes

When I remove the tubeless tire, I first suck out as much fluid as possible with a syringe through the valve stem. This helps to keep the mess to a minimum. YMMV

Anyome tried a Racktime Shine Evo IMM on their non Turbo Vado SL 4.0

I went with Specialzed S-Works 2Bliss Pathfinders 700x42, front and rear. I got the S-Works only because there were not any Pro's available at the time. I had a new rear wheel built with a DT Swiss 531 Gravel Rim, with 32 spokes and Shimano XT Microspline Hub. I did this so I could go with a...

Anyome tried a Racktime Shine Evo IMM on their non Turbo Vado SL 4.0

Yeah, it seems like the mounting bars and hardware are out of stock everywhere. I was hoping you had a source. I wonder if Racktime has an ETA on these parts availability if you emailed them? I betcha the non IMM version comes with straight tubes and you'd still be looking for angled tubes. What...

Anyome tried a Racktime Shine Evo IMM on their non Turbo Vado SL 4.0

I didn't find it too difficult, more like challenging. For me, it was learning about the different types of attachments such as MIK, Rack It, etc. and what my carrying requirements such as bags, panniers, etc., would be. I've never had a bike with a rack before, so it's been a learning curve.

Ah, I didn't realize the step-thru used a regular seat collar. The rack looks wide enough that, perhaps, you could use the Racktime angled mounting bars and a seat collar, either replacing the existing one, if sizing available, or placing one on top of the existing one. The angled bars would...
