@Lin B What's that with the rubber bands on the crank arm?

Oops BBS01 broke my Nexus 8 IGH

I rode a Nexus 8 / BBS02 combo for 3 seasons. I really liked the IGH but now that I am back on an indexed derailleur setup (with a rear hub motor) it's not so bad. I just shift down while coming to a stop instead of waiting until I am already stopped. I am amazed at the accuracy and...

Review: My OneMotor drive (formerly Shareroller)

Thank @Lin B, that's very useful info. One more question: when you disengage the PAS, how long does it take for the bike to feel "analog" again? Also, does that happen automatically while coasting downhill? One of the great advantages I envision for the OneMotor is the ability to 100%...

Hey @Lin B - did you check how much battery remained at the end of this adventure?

Specialized Turbo X 2015, Front wheel bending when i brake

I have fenders on my bike, blocking my view of the front wheel's dynamic relation to the fork. I have never noticed this flexing behavior but have full faith in @J.R.'s info.

Specialized Turbo X 2015, Front wheel bending when i brake

I have the same model and do not experience this; I do get some chatter under heavy braking from the fork but it's not unsafe at all. Are you saying the bike's steering pulls to one side under braking?

First ebike for a heavy person

As you say in your original post, you know basically nothing about bicycles. Having that local dealer to help you level up is definitely worth the price differential. If you decide to go with an online order, before you buy you should find a local bike shop who will be willing to help you...

Wanted-Large sized, mid-drive, torque sensing budget ride

I would strongly recommend a Specialized Turbo from 2015/2016. It's a rear hub rather than mid-drive, but after 3 years on a BBS02 mid I prefer the rear hub (quieter, zero maintenance). These bikes show up on ebay with light use fairly regularly. If you're thinking about doing a build on an...

Bulls dealers in mid-atlantic / northeast?

Electric Bikes of New England (https://www.ebikesofne.com/) in Londonderry NH is an enthusiastic dealer of Bulls. They have a lot of stock and provide test rides. Paul has been in the ebike business for over a decade and is very knowledgeable about the market and the products, great guy to...

    Lectric-Cycles kit cost!

@Bobiam: It sounds like you are experienced and enjoy cycling itself, not just looking for a cheap way to get around (like me). I think you'll find that 500W is plenty of assist and the torque sensing makes for a much more natural ride. I rode a Lectric BBS02 conversion for 3 years, then...

    BROKEN SPOKES?

I've broken probably 7 or 8 rear spokes this year; I attribute this to a poorly rebuilt rear wheel after an accident wrecked the original. It's still rideable, but over the winter I am having a new rear wheel made by a specialty wheel builder, which I expect will solve the problem. A...

Vado vs. Turbo X/S Efficiency -- How many Wh/mi?

My 21-mile round-trip commute generally consumes 42% - 44% of my Turbo X's battery, generally riding in the 18 - 22 mph range. This works out to ~ 14.5 Wh/mi which makes sense based on the lower speed.

    Used bike advice

Hi @PDoz. That is what I thought too but my dealer spoke to their local rep and was able to get a promise of coverage. In the end we didn't need it as they recovered what had initially appeared to be a bricked battery after a firmware upgrade. Seems like corporate has some flexibility to help...

    Used bike advice

I bought a similar used Specialized Turbo over the summer and it turned out great, due to support from a local Specialized dealer. One thing you should check is to have the seller connect the Specialized app ('Mission Control') to the bike and give you screenshots of the reports on the battery...

ShareRoller - Quick and Dirty Electric Bikes

Service policies I had been waiting to see finalized: 6 month warranty on a ~$1500 item 20% restocking fee for returns, so ~$300 to try it out and see if it works for your expected use No OEM extended warranty available These are kind of a bummer for me, particularly since riding season is...

    The Poor Man's Battery Saver/Satiator: a $10 Outlet Timer?

Great idea. In fact I am noticing the battery in my 4 year old laptop is almost worthless now since I leave it plugged in 90% of the time. It used to be able to do 4.5 hours, now it’s under 1.5. I’ll get a new battery and a timer to go with it. I’m really liking the push button one.

    The Poor Man's Battery Saver/Satiator: a $10 Outlet Timer?

@pedaliboi - Sorry, I got nuthin'. As a data point this does not happen with my Specialized Turbo battery and charger, but this setup is miles ahead of the shark pack and 2A barrel charger on my last DIY rig. Never tried a timer on that one.

    Possible downside to speed pedelec / class 3 / 28 MPH ?

Agreed. In fact those 1% roadies are probably more dangerous as they run skinny tires at high pressure and don't have a lot of braking available from the resulting tiny contact patch. I live near a very busy MUP in a densely populated area (http://minutemanbikeway.org/) and we've had some...
