    Nyon Favorite Feature.

The 25mph value is the value I would like to know, except for a class 1 bike. (It would have to be some value below 20mph.)

Giant Lafree E+2 and E+1 I have owned both models!!!!

I test rode e-bikes at 6 different places before I bought my e-bike. All of them allowed me to take the bike on a decent ride (~15 min) in the area around which always included some hills. Most of them did take a copy of my driver's license, and a couple had one of their sales people accompany...

    Nyon Favorite Feature.

I have always wondered what the speed curve for the Bosch standard Touring mode is. In particular, at what speed does the curve start dropping towards zero. Do you happen to know what the original speed curve looked like before you customized it?

    Low Step Bike Choices

I have a Gazelle Arroyo and really appreciate the adjustable stem which allows me to change riding positions as I ride. I can choose between fully upright and a more aggressive, faster position. Also, it is nice that the Gazelle is made in Netherlands and that the company seems to have very...

    RadCity or Aventon Pace 500

One difference between the Rad City and the Aventon bikes is the controller. The Rad City has a power based controller, with the power input to the motor based on the PAS (power assist) setting. IIRC, the settings go something like: PAS 1 - 50 watts PAS 2 - 150 watts PAS 3 - 300 watts...

Let's Develop a cycling club policy on e-road bikes

It seems whether riding an e-bike is cheating is really based on the purpose of the ride. 1. Race - an e-bike is clearly cheating. 2. Commute - An e-bike allows you to get to work faster and being less sweaty than an ordinary bike, which might very allow replacing car commuting with bike...

    Range vs. Tire Pressure

The response can't be linear or with enough pressure the rolling resistance would go negative.

    Watt Wagons Ultimate Commuter Pro

I have never had to do that except with one road bike that I owned that had no guard. I was annoyed that this particular bike required an extra step and I finally got a new chainring on that bike to eliminate the issue.

    Watt Wagons Ultimate Commuter Pro

Wouldn't a guard still be needed to keep your pants from being sucked up between the belt and the chainring?

    Bike racks and rain

Does anyone have any long term experience with putting an e-bike on a bus bike-rack for commuting? I live in Oregon, where rain is frequent in the winter, and own a Gazelle Arroyo. I often put the bike on a bus bike rack as part of my commute. I know you aren't supposed to pressure wash the...

What about a chain guard? It seems the only thing missing from this bike.

    Abrubt Acceleration.....

(I posted this in the Aventon forum, but it seems relevant here.) There seem to be various types of Cadence sensing controllers - Constant voltage - This drives a constant voltage to the the motor, based on the assist level, with the current limited by the controller. At low speed you hit...

Grin does it again. Regen 36v hub motor 28mph

The video is clearer. They run the motor at low power to overcome the drag from not freewheeling, and simply expect to normally regain more energy by regenerative braking. The latter isn't guaranteed. Obviously, if you are pedaling long distances where, with a normal motor, you wouldn't be...

Grin does it again. Regen 36v hub motor 28mph

It also looks like they have managed to invent a perpetual motion machine :) A quote from: https://www.ebikes.ca/product-info/gmac.html "However, even if you are pedaling the bike without assist, the energy that is expended overcoming this rolling drag in most cases much less than the energy...

    At What Price .......?

One upright/relaxed bicycle that likely matches your request for good quality, reliability, and money well spent is the Gazelle Arroyo. "Royal Dutch Gazelle" is the company's name, with the Royal part, according to Court's review (IIRC correction), only given to that company in bicycles. They...

    Light weight eBikes review

I don't think there are very many bikes that are so heavy they can't be ridden with the power off. I own a 57lb (26kg) Gazelle Arroyo. While it is a heavy bike if I am going for a pleasure ride in the country I usually ride with power off most of the time, using the power for uphill and...

Known Issues & Problems with Riese & Müller Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

European vehicles tend to over-report speeds due to the fact that they could get into trouble if they under-report the speed. Thus, your BMW, my Mini, and E-bikes with European motors (Bosch in particular) have all reported to have the same issue. The issue with Bosch motors has come up in a...

Serious bike on bike crash. Head on.

There is twice as much energy, but that energy is absorbed by 2 cyclists instead of 1. The wall, if it is truly inflexible, doesn't absorb any energy. (Real walls have at least a bit of give, but not necessarily very much.)

Looking for Opinions on Bikes (and potentially some other options)

Bosch drives ride fine unpowered. My Gazelle has the Performance Line motor, which some people have reported has a drag when it isn't powered. However, the drag must be light enough that I don't notice it. When I go on longer bike rides through the country I will often turn motor assistance...
