Winter is coming: how do I protect the battery?

Only fools ride on two wheels on ice. The basic rule is don't charge bellow freezing. If it gets super cold bring the battery in. I've run a battery outside in my Oslo for 3 years and have not had a problem. Our winter lows here at the 49th parallel are in mid-teens F.

How's the bike infrastructure where you ride?

We had a section of road rebuilt. They put in a two lane road, a bicycle lane, and a side walk. I think it's great, but the cagers hate it, even though their lanes are each 11 feet wide!

    Groundbreaking *4 wheel* simplicity???

At least they're dealing with the granny trike tip-over thing. I would like more on the front wheel linkage. Maybe it leans. It seems like one rear wheel is driven by pedal, and the other wheel by the motor. There might be a market where they're headed. E-mobility is a wild card!

    Groundbreaking *4 wheel* simplicity???

With four wheels what is it legally classified as. My state has a classification something called an electric personal mobility device (EPMD). So maybe that's what it is.

    Rear brake lost all pressure

If you haven't already bled the brake (correctly) it could be the hydraulic circuit is compromised, i.e. the piston seals are bad, etc. I bought my son a new Adventon Pace 500 years ago. Could never get the rear brake to work right. One day I had the bike upside down and noticed the inboard...

    Took a tumble

Every wreck is different. I remember one wreck that I separated a collarbone and broke a wrist. Someone told me I should of just landed on my head, because that was what helmets are for. I wasn't convinced. A broken wrist seems more preferable to TBI, at least in my opinion.

New bike with weird front dropout - Need to fit front hub

Does the front wheel have a working brake? Does the wheel mount solidly into the modified dropouts. Personally, I would replace the forks with something unmodified, and then do good brakes and torque arm. An ebike is heavier and travels faster, so you're gambling with your life if the bike's...

Excuse my heresy and please help, need advice from the fat tire crowd.

Granny trikes are known for their propensity to tip over at anything over low speed, so don't plan on going fast. If you enjoy noise and fumes, by all means put a gasser on it. At least everyone will hear you approach.

Correct spoke tension, 2019 Rad Rover rear wheel?

Though we have gone to disk brakes. But just the same, you center the wheel. I'm on my third lace a wheel to a hub motor. There is an art where you feel on torque on one side and a different one on the other. It's not something for someone who looks for perfection, because there be where...

Looks like a very nice ebike, but it's the price of my new emotorcycle!

Correct spoke tension, 2019 Rad Rover rear wheel?

The spokes from one side of the flange are set to a different tension than the other side, all depending on if the wheel is dished and by how much.

And I remember the day when you just rode your bike. No camera, no GPS, and if you wanted music you sang.

Please stop charging ebike batteries overnight!

How do you do a balance charge on your batteries, providing that your batteries' bms does that.

Do we have a Franken bike thread?

Well, I put together another franken ebike. Laced the motor into a rim, assembled a battery, and installed a low cost motor scooter controller: So far the thing cost about $200. I'm going to use it for some experiments, but it rides so well I might put a conventional battery and controller on...

    Rear Brake linereplacement

I'd be inclined to zip-tie the brake line on to the frame and be done with it.. Threading a wet brake line through the frame would seem to just cause trouble, though it could probably be done satisfactorily. You would need a new ferrule and a bleed kit if you went that route.
