Known Issues & Problems with Specialized Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

Interesting, charge limit still is not working for me... this is on the updated app only though, I haven't updated the motor or TCU firmware yet.

PearTune 4.0 and Vado 5.0 IGH

I don't remember the details, sorry! I followed the instructions in the PearTune videos and it worked for me.

PearTune 4.0 and Vado 5.0 IGH

I didn't have any issues, the colors on my wires matched. To remove plug D, you need to release the small clip on the side and pull out. There is a video from PearTune on YouTube that shows the process and is helpful.

Specialized Vado 5.0 IGH Cadence Survey

I tried to count the teeth on my dog, but I don't know if I can do it without taking the belt off. Does anyone know if there is an easy way to find out how many teeth my dog he's? Thanks

Interesting, I will have to check mine and see how many teeth it has

Instructions for PearTune 4.0 MSO on 2022 Turbo Vado

I've got maximum assist set at 45 kmh, but I rarely achieve that unless I'm pedalling like crazy and going downhill. I'd say on flats, I average about 38 kmh at the top end. I think it's the gearing of the Enviolonthat limits my top speed. I haven't however recalibrated the enviolo since I...

Powder coating wore off to metal on Turbo Vado 5.0

Thanks for the post! Yeah I don't mind it not being painted, since I keep a pannier there all the time. I'm more worried about it rusting. The weird thing is that the coating is very thick, like powder coating or plastic wrap (not sure which) and I'm pretty sure I could peel it off if I...

Powder coating wore off to metal on Turbo Vado 5.0

Hey all, I had my bike in for a brake job and had to remove an Ortleib that I haven't removed in 1700 km. I noticed that the clamps that hold the bag on the rack have worn through the powder coating, all the way down to bare metal. Is this anything to worry about? I'm not sure it this is...

    Ok, thanks for the tips!

Disc brake rubbing noise on 2022 Turbo Vado 5.0 IGH

Yeah I live in Vancouver and have a big 100 m hill inclimb and descend each day. Not sure if that's enough to wear down the brake pads in 1700 km. I asked the LBS guy if this was normal wear, and he said it's not abnormal. Well, hopefully it isn't too expensive anyway.

Disc brake rubbing noise on 2022 Turbo Vado 5.0 IGH

Brought the bike into my LBC on the way home today. He told me it's just a minor adjustment for the rubbing noise (as you guys suggested above). But then I told him it was way louder today, he looked at my rear wheel, and told me the brake pad needed replacing. My odometer is at about 1700...

Disc brake rubbing noise on 2022 Turbo Vado 5.0 IGH

Hi all, I've been commuting daily on my 2022 Turbo Vado 5.0 IGH since I purchased it last October. One thing I've noticed is that the brakes are very loud and annoying on this bike. For example, if there is any sign of wetness outside, the brakes will squeal extremely loud when using then...

    Firmware update for charging limit

The charging limit on my bike seems to have stopped working. Has anyone else noticed this? The last time I charged (last week), the battery charged to 100%. I assumed it was because it was the 10th charge since installing the app (the documentation states there will be a full charge every...

Mine didn't update today either. Thanks for the instructions on how to change it manually!

New Firmware for multiple bikes. Only updatable via the bike shop

I occasionally get messages in my Specialized app that there is a firmware update that only the dealer can do. However, the message isn't constant and soon clears (and I only see it infrequently). I've been into my lbs, and they checked and there are no needed updates. I've always assumed this...

Instructions for PearTune 4.0 MSO on 2022 Turbo Vado

Not that I've noticed. It's always a countdown from 20 to 10. But I only use this bike for commuting (~25 minute ride). I don't use this one for longer rides, so I'm unsure if longer rides would have a longer countdown. I would email PearTune and ask if you are curious.

Instructions for PearTune 4.0 MSO on 2022 Turbo Vado

I've had it installed for a few months with no issues. The only real challenge I had was understanding how to work it, since the instructions were not clear (since some specifics must necessarily change given the wide variation in controls on different ebike models). Once I figured out how to...

    Firmware update for charging limit

I got the update on my 2022 Turbo Vado 5.0. it says it will charge to 80%, then 100% every tenth charge (to recalibrate the battery). I'm not sure if the 100% charge is a good thing or a bad thing... This is from the same company that had batteries charging to 100% in the first place, after all.

Specialized Vado 5.0 IGH Cadence Survey

I just wanted to follow up with official information from Enviolo (I contacted them via email). They confirmed my results above, stating "Because the interface is controlled by the Brose motor software, the Brose is dominant over our app. The change in the app will be canceled by the motor...

Specialized Vado 5.0 IGH Cadence Survey

On my commute to work today, I changed my cadence in the TCU from "Standard" to "Slowest". When I arrived at the office, I checked the cadence in the Enviolo app, and it reported a value of 65 rpm. Based on this, and my earlier results above, I'm convinced that the cadence setting in the...
