Bafang to Rohloff belt drive question.

I am really appreciating this great advice. I just connected up an older bike computer and took the bike for a 15 mile ride. While I did a cadence of 70 several times, my sustained cadence was closer to 60. That comes as no big surprise to me as my 78 year old legs ain’t what they used to be...

Bafang to Rohloff belt drive question.

Just checked the bike it is a 55/22 set up like Jeremy suggested. Oh and my wife‘s Aventon bike with a 750watt rear hub motor and only 50Nm of torque flat ran away from me.

Bafang to Rohloff belt drive question.

Great questions, thanks! Ideally I would like to be cruising in Rohloff gear 11 @ a cadence of about 70 and going about 16 mph. My legs are relatively strong but not so fast. I can maintain a 60-70 cadence without much trouble. My previous e bike was very light Salsa touring bike with a...

Bafang to Rohloff belt drive question.

It appears that my Zen Photon Ultra current belt drive set up is geared to low. Gear 1 is ridiculously low and I find myself riding in gear 14 just to barely maintain a touring speed of 16mph. I would like to be cruising in gear 11 but the pedal rotation speed is beyond my capabilities (must...

Evelo Omega vs Zen Photon Pro for next E Bike

interesting, how tall are you.? I found the Photon made me sit up straighter than I wanted. I changed the stem and after a 20 mile ride today am going to change the handle bars. If you have sitbone or numbness issues, look into a bi saddle.

Evelo Omega vs Zen Photon Pro for next E Bike

I don’t like sitting straight up for a number of reasons. It feels a little awkward making tight turns and my sit bones get sore pretty quickly. I typically prefer my handlebars 5-6 inches above my saddle height. This gives a slight leaning forward effect and hand and wrist fatigue are...

Evelo Omega vs Zen Photon Pro for next E Bike

I did buy the Zen Photon Ultra and found the handlebar to be a little too high for me. The stem was adjustable but was bit too long and lowering it meant moving the handlebar too far forward. I bought a new stem with a shorter adjustable shaft and will try that. I like leaning forward a bit...

Zen Photon Ultra - limited version (Bafang Ultra, Rohloff Speed hub, Gates belt drive)

I have received my Photon Ultra and it looks great. It is now on the charger and I will get my first ride later today. A couple of notes to those waiting for their bikes. First is that my bike arrived without a battery, that got me a little excited but 2 days later the battery arrived. The...

Evelo Omega vs Zen Photon Pro for next E Bike

I am still waiting for my Photon Ultra, while I was told by sales when I purchased it that I would receive it mid May that date is now moving towards June. I agree tat the walk mode is critical. it is especially useful when loading heavy bikes on the rack. The ebikes like the omega and photon...

Evelo Omega vs Zen Photon Pro for next E Bike

While I am waiting for my Photon, I dug out of the barn my old converted Salsa. I built a great touring bike a number of years ago and when I got tired of bike camping I bought a Bayfang conversion kit and turned it into an e-bike. After riding it everyday for about a week, I am really looking...

Evelo Omega vs Zen Photon Pro for next E Bike

Recognize that I am nit a ZEN expert, but I think th main difference is based on leg or inseam length. The seat and handlebar locations are tune able. I have bought and built maybe 30 bikes over the years and it seems thatbevery one of them needed tweaking. I am already planning on changing...

Evelo Omega vs Zen Photon Pro for next E Bike

when I purchased my ZEN, they were very careful about size. I thought I was a good candidate for the large at 5’9”, but ended up with the medium. You might give them a call If you are serious.

We spend a lot of the winter in the Los Angeles area and found an Aventon dealer there. We now own 3 of their bikes. They are the step through version and have enough power to get up and down the hills close to the beach. Whatever you chose make sure there is a dealer or local bike shop...

Zen Photon Ultra - limited version (Bafang Ultra, Rohloff Speed hub, Gates belt drive)

I did a lot of research on bikes, especially bikes that would be excellent in very hilly and mountainous terrain. After weeks of reading, researching and talking to different companies I went with the Photon Ultra. I cant wait to get it in Idaho and tackle some of the mountain roads that I...

First e-bike for a 68 year old - buying help needed

I looked at Evelo and Zen and went with Zen. Evelo bike was also great but I did not want an automatic transmission. Good people and customer support with both companies.

Zen Photon Ultra - limited version (Bafang Ultra, Rohloff Speed hub, Gates belt drive)

He told me that he had talked to Bafang and that the version of the controller they are getting from Bafange was a version that required a special tool to reprogram, it is not the version where you can change the motor using the display. I understood that it also wasnt the CAN version, so I...
