    Another new TQ motor: hpr40

i just can’t believe this! but whether it’s damaging it or not, i can’t imagine it feels that great to be spinning the geared motor with every pedal stroke!

    people for bikes city ratings

take a deep dive into their methodology, it’s pretty thorough. it’s fairly heavily weighted towards utility riders, so it had me asking questions like “how many of the grocery stores within a couple miles could i ride to without using any high stress routes?” ditto for schools, churches, movie...

    people for bikes city ratings

this is sometimes an interesting look, updated people for bikes ratings of bike infrastructure in the US, Canada, and selected (not sure by what metric) other countries. of course the top five of any significant size in the US are all college towns, and the top two are in Northern California...

    Another new TQ motor: hpr40

looking back at their press statements, note the following this is super sketch!!! of course it doesn’t have drag when coasting, it’s a mid drive. the chain and pedals aren’t turning when you’re coasting. the fact that they didn’t say “no/minimal drag when off or above the cut off” is really...

    Another new TQ motor: hpr40

that would be a deal breaker for me - and i’d imagine most other road riders if there is drag when the motor is off, or if it can’t be ridden with the motor truly off. haven’t seen this mentioned in any of the early reviews.

Short cranks for new Creo e-bike

creo 2 uses DUB crank arm interface with a BB30 bottom bracket, discussed at a bit of length here https://forums.electricbikereview.com/threads/creo-2-carbon-cranks.54924/ there seem to be options out there down to around 150, maybe 135, probably with an axle that you can't use.

Still searching for the perfect ultra-light ebike kit for road bikes — here’s the idea in my head

i have a commuter with a front 500w motor. ride it up steep san francisco hills all the time, sometimes with a kid on the back! in a wierd way, it’s better than rear drive if you’re pedaling hard because it makes the bike two wheel drive. the only time it feels really wierd is when you’re...

    Another new TQ motor: hpr40

yes. insane!!! the lightest mainstream road bike frame on the market is the s-works aethos at 1.3lb for the frame. a fairly aggressive high end build (dura ace, one piece cockpit, light and shallow wheels etc) is around 13.5lb. even if the frame didn’t have to get heavier (have to imagine it...

    Another new TQ motor: hpr40

given the whole drive system incl battery weighs only 6lb… it ought to be possible to build a 19-20lb e-bike with this setup. have to use some weight weenie components for sure but why not 😇 it will be very interesting to see if the US version is 32 or 45 kph. if there’s some technical reason...

    Specialized Creo 2 owners

moving things can make funny sounds... for a little while i had a VERY annoying metronome like "click" every time the pedals went around on my acoustic bike. bottom bracket, chainring, chainring bolts, checked and rechecked and lubed and torqued. one day i took the pedals off, don't know why...

    Another new TQ motor: hpr40

not for road bikes tho, we'll see if the next generation goes that way. everyone i know who has a 12 speed di2 road bike strongly prefers the lighter derailleurs with 6 months of battery life. the integrated e-bike power is great, i would totally do that on my di2 e-bike.

    Another new TQ motor: hpr40

i’ve just always preferred the choices shimano makes. the ergonomics and aesthetics fit me better, and i really, really dislike the small batteries attached to the derailleurs that SRAM does. they are ugly and need to be charged too often. shimano puts a battery in the seat tube and wires the...

    Another new TQ motor: hpr40

yeah, but comparing sale prices to not isn't really apples to apples. bikes often go on sale, and the current Rival AXS Nytro Gravel bike is $7,800 MRSP, the tesoro carbon 1 is $6,600 with some similar GX eagle bits (not really following why they mix up the parts so much on SRAM groups!) but is...

    RideWithGPS

would be awfully surprising if there wasn’t enough juice in the lighting wiring, given that the 67i has a pretty small 3.8v 3100mah battery. you’d need to check the voltage of the light output (probably 5v?), see if the device runs from power at the USB port (many don’t) and if not devise a...

    Another new TQ motor: hpr40

i don’t like SRAM anything, but the pricing is pretty comparable to what others do in the space, the $7850 skitch has the same level SRAM drivetrain as the $8999 creo 2, right?

    Another new TQ motor: hpr40

i think you'd really like the skitch. 31lb, 10-50 cassette, fazua 60, 400ish wh battery, 31lb! hopefully your SL will never need a replacement, but ride one of these if you have a chance :) it's in stock at lots of stores here in the bay, i'm sure it's easy to find in SD also.

    Another new TQ motor: hpr40

of course they do :D with modern mid drives in the low 80s, even a big improvement (say 80 to 85% - a quarter less wasted energy!) wouldn’t make much difference. of course any increase is good.

    Another new TQ motor: hpr40

the range issue really comes down to 1) efficiency - any modern mid drive should be about the same 2) if going flat … speed. assist past 17 or 18 mph is going to eat watts FAST 3) if going uphill, rider weight and power. unfortunately for a 200lb total package, 5lb of bike weight isn’t...
