ST5 owners - Can you maintain 28mph for whole battery?

Yes, yesterday I experienced the disabled S mode when my battery was in the low 40% range. I was a bit surprised it would become disabled with so much battery life remaining. Perhaps it disables below 50%? When it happened I thought it was a bug in the software until I saw bluecat’s post here.

ST5 vs Riese & Muller mid drive for hills

Yes, I fully agree with Johnny. You can get your ST5 to 30 mph or a bit over, but frankly anything over 28 mph rapidly loses motor assistance and suddenly it becomes a 65 lb. bike with only your legs doing the work. So, while I often get my ST5 over 30 mph for short distances, you shouldn't...

There’s finally a good explanation from Stromer of the ST5 sensor settings in the Omni app and what they actually do.

ST5 vs Riese & Muller mid drive for hills

I have both of those bikes (ST5 and Superdelite). I generally ride on similar, traffic-laden types of streets like you, and hard stops are pretty common. On a hard stop, the ST5 sometimes locks up the rear wheel and it does a bit of a sideways slide, but I’ve never felt or feared a loss of...

Yes, your suggestion makes sense 👍 And it could all be done with a firmware or software update, I would presume.

ST5 vs Riese & Muller mid drive for hills

Johnny, yes, I have the sensitivity setting cranked up all the way. As a new Stromer rider, however, it’s confusing to understand the tuning options. The user guide is only somewhat helpful, and outside of these forums there is no technical documentation that explains the principles of what...

I cranked up the torque level all the way up on my ST5 also, though I wish there were a way to set custom torque levels independently for each assist mode (i.e. 1, 2, 3 and S). At the end of my rides, I have a steep hill that I must climb to get home where I really need the full max torque level...

Just watched this. Wow! 19,000 calories. I’m guessing you went through more batteries than meals on that journey.

    ST3 connectivity

I haven’t ridden the ST1, but on my ST5, when climbing steep hills, I have to get up off the seat and put my full weight into the climb. When I do that the bike responds very well. I think your ST3 may have some issues that need attention. I hope your dealer is capable and experienced and can...

    ST3 connectivity

No, none of that sounds like proper behavior from your bike. Stromers are very responsive, they never feel sluggish. I believe your dealer may need to get involved and make sure it is set up correctly. Did you try fully powering down and restarting the bike, then trying to connect your phone...

    ST3 connectivity

I had this issue with my ST5 when I first got it, and with other Bluetooth devices with the iPhone 12 Pro. I find that often it can be resolved by turning the Bluetooth off on the iPhone and back on again. Sometimes a couple of times. Once it finally connects the first time, it generally has no...

    New Stromer ST5 LTD

After putting 120 miles on my ST5, I’ve revised my opinion and now truly appreciate the Di2 shifting compared to the electronic Rohloff. The Di2 is better suited to the performance of the ST5. It took some practice, but it feels faster and more natural. When I ride my Rohloff-equipped...

I completely agree. There’s a large difference in the ride of my R&M Superdelite with a 140mm Fox 34 fork and the ST5’s much shorter travel/tighter suspension. The first feels like a cushy Cadillac sedan while the ST5 feels more like my Jaguar F-Type SVR sports car. Vehicles with faster...

I can’t speak for freezing conditions since I live in California, but I tested the ST3 for a full day with the solid fork and recently purchased the ST5 with the suspension fork because the suspension made a big difference in ride comfort, particularly on my wrists and shoulders. I also feel the...

Anyone have a recommendation for the best navigation computer to use for the ST5? I'm primarily interested in bike route navigation that avoids heavy car traffic, and less so for fitness (heartrate, etc.) stuff. I've tried using my phone with Apple Maps and Google, but after using the Nyon on my...

ST5 vs Riese & Muller mid drive for hills

I’m not so sure the motor alone makes that much difference. It’s how the whole package works together that probably matters most. My hub-motor Stromer is much more fun than my mid-drive R&M Superdelite. It is quieter, faster and sportier. But the Superdelite Rohloff HS is more comfortable (full...

ST5 vs Riese & Muller mid drive for hills

I was getting frustrated going up the steep hill back to my house on the ST5. It was so much harder to get up that hill on the ST5 than on my R&M Superdelite HS Rohloff. What confused me about this is the Strommer is much faster and has far better acceleration than the Superdelite, so why is it...

    New Stromer ST5 LTD

Just to confirm, I rode my ST5 today on a windless, flat road, I got it up to 29.5 mph. Getting to 28mph was no problem, but the motor assist fades quickly after that and you must pedal hard to go faster. Above 28 mph it really feels like you are pedaling a 65lb bike :)

A question for this group: There’s virtually no information in the ST5’s manual about S mode. Does anyone know what the S support mode actually does? There’s 1, 2, 3 and S. Is it simply a “4,” with more assist than “3,” or is it doing something else?
