How does the Bosch motor handle multiple gear shifting?

Well, that’s the question. Currently have sram 12 speed but have bought sram grip shifter because I have a painful thumb problem. Was going to install it this morning but a couple of friends were saying that shifting multiple gears would most likely break the chain. Others have said that it...

How does the Bosch motor handle multiple gear shifting?

I always stop pedalling when I shift gears (I was told that I had to do this with my bike) but I just wanted to know what happens when you change several gears at the same time - maybe from 1 to 5 or 7 to 2 etc? How does the Bosch motor handle this? Does this cause a lot of strain on the chain...

SRAM GX Eagle Gripshift - suitable for eBikes?

I’ve ordered a 12 speed Gx Gripshift for my Cube as I’m getting a lot of arthritic thumb pain using the trigger shifts but I just realised that none of SRAM’s grip shifts mention that they are suitable for eBikes. All the trigger shifters seem to have ebike specific variants! Is there any reason...

    Cassette / sprocket lubrication?

Thanks guys, this advice is greatly appreciated. Had I not asked the question, I would have happily dumped an unhealthy quantity of grease on the cassette assuming that it would do no harm! My mechanical engineering friends always say “if in doubt, grease it!”

    Riding through water...

The issue is that they regularly exaggerate their figures. If they lie about this they are likely to lie about everything else like their resistance to water etc.

    Riding through water...

Bafang and most other Chinese motor manufacturers have always exaggerated performance claims. My wife bought a NCM bike with the 95nm mid-drive and there was no way it was even close to my Cube in performance. 5 assist levels, first 3 did bugger all, 4 was ‘meh’ and 5 was just about ok, but...

    Cassette / sprocket lubrication?

Ok, I’m going to really show my nubie-ness here but I’ve just done my first de-grease of the chain and cassette (woohoo!) and applied Muck Off Chain lube (dry) but what do I lube the cassette with? They’re all clean and shiny (ish) but shouldn’t they have some stuff applied to them? I was going...

Adjuting the power level in each assist mode using Bosch NYON

No, moving maps are fine. In fact, once it’s up and running the thing works beautifully!

Huh, maybe we need to wait for a Welsh update!

Adjuting the power level in each assist mode using Bosch NYON

That’s weird. I spoke to Bosch TS yesterday and they said it may be something peculiar in my area. You’re not from South Wales are you, by any chance?

Seatpost. Grease or not to grease?

Thanks guys. I just added a very light coating of grease, just to be safe and went for a 20 mile ride. No slippage, it all seems rock solid!

Adjuting the power level in each assist mode using Bosch NYON

I thought that too but it seems to make no difference. I also loaded the German maps too that I’d previously deleted in case that made a difference but it didn’t. I’ll have to speak to Bosch TS tomorrow but I’ll probably have to take it into a dealer which I can’t because were all in lockdown at...

Adjuting the power level in each assist mode using Bosch NYON

That’s weird. Mine takes 55 - 60 seconds for the map to come up and my location to me marked on it! It spends ages with what looks like an out of focus map on the screen. Not sure why mine’s different - it has the latest software etc and the map downloaded too!

Seatpost. Grease or not to grease?

I’ve just bought a Suntour suspension seat post and when I removed my ‘old’ seatpost from my 6 week old bike, it had a fair bit of grease on it. Do I need to apply grease to the new seatpost? The bike / post is not Carbon, before anyone asks! Any advice would be appreciated! If anyone has one...

Adjuting the power level in each assist mode using Bosch NYON

Can I ask, how long does your Nyon take to come on from being properly off (not just screen off)? Mine seems to take ages even though I have the maps downloaded and the maps looks out of focus for ages!

    Product Improvement:- Feedback to Bosch.

Well, maybe that’s great for you but it’s not for me! I need to be aware of who’s messaged me and not particularly the content. That I can stop and read if I want to. As for the phone, I have never used that when I’m riding. On a device that costs £300, it would have been nice to have been...

    Product Improvement:- Feedback to Bosch.

Well, the rest of it is brilliant but I’m just pissed about the lack of notifications. This is 2020 /2021 for Christ’s sake - you get notifications from your phone on every bloody thing!

    Product Improvement:- Feedback to Bosch.

WTF Bosch. Just purchased and had my bike shop install the new Nyon V2 and there’s no notifications available on it! How is this right? My £100 Garmin plays all the notifications my iPhone sends it but NOT my £300 Bosch. Unacceptable. If I had know this was lacking, I would have not bought it.

    Riding through water...

I’m proud to declare myself a fair-weather cyclist so the chances of this happening again is pretty slim! I never expected the motor to be waterproof, of course, but was hoping that they’d survive the odd accidental splash, which I guess they’d be fine for. Mine still seems fine so I guess I...
