    Stromer ST1 vs. ST2

I sometime do social rides with my friends who are mostly not into bikes but have nice bicycles. I found socially its better if I show up on a regular bike, my wife's step though as funny as it is, things go much better. Otherwise, my ebike experience is way different then theirs and I'm jut...

Easy Motion vs Bosch Second Generation Drive Systems

Given that Bosch assist appears to react instantly to input makes it extremely responsive. Also, since Bosch is always assisting means there is no engine on and off effect like on BH, which also makes things much smoother (at the cost of always being on even in a very low assist state)...

Easy Motion vs Bosch Second Generation Drive Systems

The Bosch system clearly multiplies your effort in a linear manner across all four assist levels. It's just obvious when you ride it. The BH algorithm does not and it is very obvious as well. ECO will not provide any assist once your are moving unless you pass a torque threshold for a...

Easy Motion vs Bosch Second Generation Drive Systems

Thanks. I would really like to try a 2015 Evo at some point. Nailing Eco would really round out the BH. Charging on the bike is extremely convenient. I see why Court always makes a big deal about it. Really simplifies the workflow especially if you ride daily like I aspire to do. Since I...

Easy Motion vs Bosch Second Generation Drive Systems

I'm surprising myself with how many miles I'm putting on the Haibike. 95% of the time its being used as a road bike. 5% of the time its on single track. With greater time in the saddle, I can now more intuitively see a line and follow it which is necessary for anything technical. On my 20...

    2013 Jumper loose/noisy battery

Just put some duck tape on the bike between the bike and battery. Does not take a lot. Will stop the clanking.

"The Stromer ST2 electric bike..., it should not be street legal"

I think that is why that watch exists, to create a irrationally dramatic price dynamic. Oh, I can buy the $400 dollar version of a $19,000 watch that is functional equivalent, what a deal. That and for the 2.4 million or so nouveau riche in China.

Easy Motion vs Bosch Second Generation Drive Systems

Had a blast this weekend ridding in weather that did not require jackets and gloves and that does not steal range from the battery. Did around 50 miles which include a mile or so of single track. Repairs from last week were under $100, but my pristine bike did get scratched up in a couple of...

Easy Motion vs Bosch Second Generation Drive Systems

A month in I'm able to start commenting on build quality of the Haibike and BH. The Haibike FS RX has some issues. One is a rattle that comes from the front fork area that seems to echo a bit though the bike, I am hoping it gets worse to make diagnostics easier. The second is a missing screw...

Purchasing over internet (vs local bike shop) - tax savings

You can look at it as a business decision. First, much are you saving by buying out of state 1. How does that number compare to the probably of failure and associated local labor cost if the local dealer will not honor your warranty. Parts will be covered but labor is questionable. 2. How...

    Haibike FS RX Wattage 250?

Very true. As I learn more about the system and how settings, gearing, speed, and range interact my range is really improving. There is more to think about but you you can really dial in how much assist you want at a speed for a level of effort.

    Elf Sighting in Maryland

Here is a google map of where I have spotted the ELF twice already around 7:30am. It is a log light crossing 185 which is the only way I could catch up since it can holds 20mph. https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=49875b23b9bad25e!3835&authkey=!ABqjj9DSnx8cRzs&v=3&ithint=photo%2cpng

    Elf Sighting in Maryland

Same green ELF spotted in the exact same location yesterday at 7:28 am EST. I didn't have the time and don't want to be stalking ELFs in general so I kept my distance. There is a bus stop near by and everyone waiting was pointing and taking about the ELF. It gets a lot of attention.

Easy Motion vs Bosch Second Generation Drive Systems

True about sprung weight. I tried to keep it about the motors and pedal feel and not about the ride since it was a FS compared to a front suspension. The FS MTB better over uneven surfaces but does not allow for a full set of panniers is is less efficient. I'll check the Neo Jet. It has...

Good to know. I agree that it extrapolating battery price to other areas is not fair.

Easy Motion vs Bosch Second Generation Drive Systems

Power Delivery There has been a lot written about the difference between having motor assist via a chain and gears and having a rear hub. What I want to cover is the algorithms and sensors and how they playout and ultimately differ in user experience. BH It seems every year BH makes the claim...

Easy Motion vs Bosch Second Generation Drive Systems

Easy Motion vs Bosch Second Generation Drive Systems This review compares the second generation Bosch 36 volt mid drive 350 watt to the BH Easy Motion 36 volt rear geared hub 350 watt 2014 drive system. These drives are used across multiple bikes. Bosch is used by many manufactures and BH...
