thanks y'all. i'm probably going to try using a narrower chain first just to see what it does. maybe even a 10 speed chain or something. i would like to avoid adding a big ugly pulley or having a constant friction point on the frame, feels like asking for trouble. some delrin on a vertical...

still having chain issues :( just barely but the chain still catches on the frame every few rotations of the pedals. the bike shop Dewey mentioned wasn't much help, they are using a different hub and a newer frame which has different style dropouts for the tire, they just said it barely cleared...

i'll keep that in mind next time. i was eyeing the e1 but decided to go with the z1 for now because it was half the price and i wasn't seeing anybody saying that the e1 lasted twice as long, maybe 1.5x at best. i think i will hold on to the rain for now! i grew up in texas so i still have it...

got it thanks. hadn't thought about the wire bundle at the motor, thought that was sealed up a bit better. i have been greasing the connections though. also i'm in the netherlands if that helps at all. noord holland baybee. i got the 40T lekkie on today and it was just perfect. waaaayyy too...

ok i got the 40T ring and motor cover in. @tomjasz i was expecting there to be a screw for the grease port, but it looks like that's only for the HD model. do you think that will be an issue? i have some mobil shc100 that i can use to pack it, is the idea that the grease will plug up the hole...

yea i had this in my back pocket as a last ditch effort, it helped a bit but not quite enough. i went ahead and just bit the bullet on the lekkie 40T kit, that ought to give me enough room to play with.

yea the BBSHD is probably fun when playing around on trails but for a commuter bike on pavement i'm not sure i've got the guts for it. and i appreciate it! very excited to get it back on the road. hopefully will have this chainline issue sorted by the time the battery gets here in a week or two...

thanks, yea i really think the 40T kit is the ideal fix for this issue and am glad i didn't get the HD motor so i wouldn't have to modify anything, just kind of a bummer that i will not be able to use the KMC Z1eHX chain i bought.

i will reach out to them that's a good idea. looks like they are using the standard bafang chainwheel but they have a different hub on there so i'm assuming it has to do with that.

here's a picture of the chainline when using the stock 44T chainwheel. it's contacting the frame where it is circled in red. (ignore the bolt that's from the old chainguard i just didn't want to lose it)

this is an interesting idea. if i pull the chain down i get a bit more clearance due to the angle of the frame at that point, so i could use a pulley to hold it there. it is definitely the cheaper fix but i'm wondering what the repercussions of this would be? if i use the 44T stock chainwheel...

it's rubbing on the inside edge of the frame here at the front of the tire. the only thing i can think of to fix it would be pulling the chain in towards the frame of the bike up by the pedals.

i am having chain line issues. i turned the rear sprocket around and it helps a bit but the chain is still rubbing on the frame when using both the straight 36T chainwheel and the included bafang 44T one that's slightly dished. is my only option here spending way too much money on a lekkie bling...

i mean i would argue that it makes a bit more sense than an alternator on a tesla considering that you aren't expected to get out and push a car under normal operation (although that may not be the case with teslas considering all the issues i see with them...) whereas with a bicycle, it's still...

my 1.75" tire dreams are crashing :( the front tire was a bit tight with the mudguard but i eventually got it to work. the rear tire however, no space. there's this mounting tab for the mudguard that is touching the new tires. i'm trying to decide if it is worth cutting the tab off to make space...

waiting on the motor kit to come in still, prepping the bike for install. the bike had obviously sat for a while according to the chain and sprocket rust, making the gears a bit sticky so i'm giving the hub a bath in some transmission fluid and will regrease it well when i slide it back...

i appreciate it. will revisit this once the motor arrives. i plan on getting some split loom to marry the brake sensor wire and the brake cable itself, and then i'll fit some type of enclosure in the gap of the frame right behind the kickstand where i can tuck all the extra cable into...

thank you for the tips, i will definitely get that chain on order today. do you have any pictures of what you mean with cutting into the bottom brocket shell? i think i get the idea i just want to make sure. it actually slides all the way out for some reason too. i guess it could be handy for...

thanks Dewey. the dynamos are great, i honestly need to double check if this one still works lol. it looks to be in good shape but i'm not so sure about the wiring. i appreciate the input on finding a vendor. i wish there was more consistencies with how these sellers marked parts up but that's...
