    The Experience of a Bicycle

regulations will come and go as they do with any other form of transportation, but it's not like the cops are going to come knocking on your door out of nowhere to confiscate your things. at the end of the day more people getting interested in alternative forms of transportation is a good thing imo.

Local Bike Shops and upgrade or repairs to Internet purchased EBikes

most shops out here are "licensed" to work on a handful of brands. there's shops for van moof, gazelle, RAD, etc. you just look for the little sign in the window when you walk past. most of them will handle the normal bike bits of something they aren't licensed for (brakes, tires, shifter, etc.)...

Startling pedestrians can be so much fun.

it's nice being in a country where the bike lanes are actually used as bike lanes and not just as the lanes where drunk people stand when the sidewalk gets too busy but sometimes people still act a bit goofy. was riding home from the station with the gf after a night out at like 3am on saturday...

    rear rack seat

i am looking for ideas on what i could use for a seat cushion on my bike. it's a cargo bike that me and my gf use as our main mode of transport. the rear seat is one of those little cushions that dutch people love to throw on their racks, the issue i am having is they aren't so comfortable. i...

    I hit a horse

that's absolutely insane. glad you seem to be ok, sad to hear about the horse though. hopefully you will be able to get a new means of transportation soon i know it can be very difficult not having a vehicle. those old suburbans are built like tanks that horse sure did a number on it.

Hello, and I think I may need to move on?

it's really not that crazy. i see stuff like this every day and honestly the only people who seem to get in accidents are tourists who are too stoned to pay attention to the traffic rules. with a good rider who is being careful, i don't see cycling being any more or less dangerous than being in...

Hello, and I think I may need to move on?

schoolkids even get picked up by their teachers in big cargo bikes here in NL. i also see plenty of occasions where a mom on a regular bike will just drop the kid on a cargo rack on the front of a bike and tell them to hold on lol. with an experienced rider it's really not a big deal...

    Spokes breaking

a friend of mine lives in Brixton and has been using Brixton Cycles for a while now, they apparently do good work. he has a mid drive though so i'm not sure if they'll lace in a motor, no harm in asking though.

    Good Stuff You Bought

the gore-tex stuff is great i sadly sold the only jacket i had when i was living in texas during a drought. i recently bought a maium jacket because i wanted some rain gear that had a bit of swag and i really like it. it converts into a poncho so it's nice and comfortable while riding, dries off...

BBS02B - my look at driver settings

sorry to be bringing up an old thread but i wanted to share my experiences with these settings just in case anyone else comes here looking for more info (like i did). i have a longtail cargo bike i just finished building, with a Nexus 8 internal hub. my main goals for programming are similar to...

    azor tweelingfiets build thread

got a few pics before it started raining. i think it's a good balance of looking pretty enough to make me happy but shitty enough to hopefully make it not worth a thief's time lol. the battery is in a 3d printed case with a lock on it, it slides on a steel rail that is bolted to the front rack...

    azor tweelingfiets build thread

i finished the bike (is it ever really completely finished) last week. we've been riding it around town a bit and it's so nice! with both of us riding it i think i'm peaking at around 10A of power being used, and that's really just starting and when we hit the occasional hill. the 2" tires are...

after trying a plethora of chains i landed on the kmc e1. it fits no grinding or anything and is a proper single speed so should be plenty durable enough (i would hope for how much i paid for it). tried a z1 narrow but it didn't like the lekkie. silly problem to have but got there in the end...

i was under the impression that the teeth are the same space apart regardless of the speed of bike, and all that changes is the width of the teeth? i've never tried it myself (i'm usually the type of person to buy the same chain that came on the bike when it wears out) but this article implies...

    azor tweelingfiets build thread

ok so before i go crazy and start grinding away at the frame doing permanent damage, i want to see if getting a smaller chain would work. right now i am running an 1/8" wide single speed chain, and as you can see in the 'chain rub' picture it is barely clipping the frame. it's not even doing it...

good to know thank you. why would i not need one? if i grind 3mm off the drive side that means i need to add 3mm to the non drive correct?

    azor tweelingfiets build thread

oh that's what i meant, after grinding down the right side (drivetrain side) what to add to the left side to space things back out. i will try and get a washer, just a bit worried about the motor slipping since it won't be biting into the bb anymore but rather into the washer which could turn...

    azor tweelingfiets build thread

ah ok, my misunderstanding. it is rubbing on the point indicated in these pictures. that was why i said that adding a delrin spacer in there would push it horizontally and probably be bad. definitely painful. no it's flipped towards the hub, so the chain is as far over as i can physically get...
