Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

I had the same thoughts as you - should I choose the Vado or Vado SL and after much excellent advice and encouragement from members of this forum, especially @Stefan Mikes and @Jeremy McCreary, I opted for the Vado SL. I've already done over 250 miles on it and can safely say it's a great bike...

2024 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

We are lucky to have all of these paths and rights of way! It's so second nature to us Brits that it's hard to comprehend how other nations do it. I took the screenshot below from RWGPS, the brown lines are "cycling roads, tracks, and paths with unpaved surfaces" - and it doesn't cover the full...

Cyclists in the UK are worse than drivers. Many ride around like they have a death wish. 😄

    Well, that's weird...😄 You're reminding me of a jealous ex-girlfriend... 😅

I couldn't believe it, he whizzed past me and I thought what a git, and then I looked up again and he was on the floor and his bike was skidding down the path... It was covered in wet slippery and decaying leaves and he was covered in dirt after his fall. He jumped back up and as I rode past I...

I don't blame you if I had that on my doorstep I'd do the same! :) Positive news about the bike, I took it for a quick ride earlier and I'm glad to report no issues, it seems to be running fine. The electrical gremlins experienced earlier in the day aren't causing any issues. :D

Not 100% sure what the problem was tbh... The bike wouldn't turn on after repeated attempts. I tried charging it to see if that would kick some life into it - it didn't turn on and wouldn't accept a charge. I plugged the RE into the bike and nothing. Tried the charger again, and again no joy...

You are lucky Jeremy, to us in Europe blighted by horrible weather it looks like you live in what I'd describe as a wonderful holiday destination. I can't say I'm not a teeny bit jealous! :D

Yeah, it does have some extra features for those in North America, but granted, it is good at navigation in Europe, and its stats are probably the best of any site, they're extremely comprehensive! On another note, my Vado SL developed a problem this afternoon. The bike wouldn't turn on. It...

I know you're a fan of RWGPS Stefan and it does have some good features but you don't need to do any of this in Komoot. It'll tell you where they've been and what they've seen. You can then edit the route to include as many or as few, of these highlights as needed. The focus is on these...

True, I have an RWGPS subscription myself (To go with my Strava, Komoot and Trailforks subscriptions! :D), but it just doesn't compare to Komoot when planning for rides. With Komoot the finding of Points of Interest and sharing of photos are among its most prominent features. You're...

Haha, I started well last week and ended up down the leaderboard! :D I know I'm just a lower to mid-tier rider. When I compare myself to my more athletic work colleagues I pale into insignificance. They can ride 60-100 miles in one ride and do it on a traditional bike! I'd be out of breath after...

Fair enough, but you should seriously consider adding Komoot into the mix! :D I find Komoot excellent. The mileage I do isn't born from competition (I typically ride alone!), but from following routes created by others on Komoot. They find and share good places to ride with interesting things...

Vado SL 2 Carbon LTD premiered today!

I checked this today on my bike, and it doesn't look like it is possible to turn the lights off. They're permanently on. I'll probably opt for the Lenzye Power StVZO Pro E115 Switch headlight @Stefan Mikes suggested above. Reading the manual it appears to have the ability to turn it off. I'll...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

The Germans love creating rules! :D But I would say when it comes to road safety follow the northern Europeans (the Dutch/Danish/Swedes) rather than the Germans! The Germans will create strict rules about lights and then allow 200mph on autobahns. German advancements are often those that...

Vado SL 2 Carbon LTD premiered today!

Thanks Stefan! I hadn't looked into this too deeply if I'm honest, as I expected the ride to take place next year, possibly in the summer. The Switch version could be a good improvement. I'd expect in daytime mode it only uses 1-1.5w rather than 6w, which for me is quite a saving! (Edit!!! Just...

Vado SL 2 Carbon LTD premiered today!

I've just had a quick read of the manual, it's only 14 pages long, and it doesn't cover each setting, it just tells you how to access the settings (press the Plus and Minus buttons for 2 seconds). Near the beginning of the manual, there is a warning which says these settings may change, so...

    2025 Vado

What a pain! I just checked myself as I had forgotten what it came with, I've been reading online for info, but it came with two manuals, one for the bike itself and the other covering the MasterMind TCU.
