    Evelo Aurora 2018 750w

NuVinci has no durability issues I'm aware of. Surprised to hear it. Yes, my wife has the 750w version and really likes it. We had also recenty purchased Bosch-powered step-thru (more expensive bike with derailleur) but she prefers the Aurora with NuVinci Harmony electric shifting. It's a...

    Focus Jam2 seat post bent?

Looks wonky to me. Looks like post was set in a bending jig incorrectly - can't be any rational reason to have such a bend - how do you insert your seat post with that seat tube so twisted?

Ultra FS -- 400 mile update!

It's a known issue about the heavy battery popping loose on these emtbs - it's due to the lock pin being slightly too short and when bounced around can come loose. Some manufacturers have custom-made a slightly longer lock pin that solves the problem (my battery has the longer pin and is rock...

Be sure to check the return policy before ordering! (Dillenger doesn't take returns)

Literally the worst customer unfriendly policies I've ever seen. The excuse that they can't accept a return because of potential shipping damage is bs - virtually all companies say the product has to be returned in good, "as-new" condition before they'll issue a refund - and often there's a...

Think tolerance for e-bikes is common? think again!

Huh? No valid reason to go over 20mph? Should we put speed limiters on analog bikes then? 20mph is a doddle on road bikes on anything but inclines. Not a chance in H I'd own an ebike that goes slower than what I can pedal on my road bike. And I'm baffled by those who think 20mph is fast...

    Damn Shame About Faraday

Yep, nice bikes, but not very practical. They were for short rides in urban environments, but I think the ride share scooters killed their business model.

90% eMTB Acceptance - Bicycling Magazine survey

"Greater uphill speeds"?? You mean riders puffing away in lowest gears at 5mph, just faster than walking speed? Where the H do they get such ludicrous nonsense? What about the out-of-control 20/30-Somethings blasting down trails and blind curves? But ebikes going uphill pose a safety...

Show us pictures of where you ride your ebikes!

Wall Point Road on way to summit of Mt Diablo. East Bay Area. Another 80+F day in November. Extreme fire danger well into what is normally the beginning of the rainy season.

when will prices come down out of the stratosphere?

Oh, I don't care if people ask. People are naturally curious what things cost, especially if they have no experience. I hate when bloggers fail to discuss cost (about anything)- that's most people's #1 concern. The market for $3+K ebikes has to be fairly small - first adopters are willing to...

    Evelo Aurora 750W

They sold it $700 off? So what price did you pay? My wife likes to run in Automatic mode, so no need to adjust shifting at all - manual mode has a bit of a delay (maybe 1 second?) which isn't as intuitive/immediate as a traditional derailleur. At first, manual mode is frustrating, as, due to...

E-Bike designs...getting less clunky, more stylish, better integrated...

You mean it's impossible to use a standardized battery AND design an elegant bike? I beg to differ.

E-Bike designs...getting less clunky, more stylish, better integrated...

Yes, easier, but it's no excuse for slapping on bulky batteries on downtubes as still happens WAY too often - at the very least, how hard is it to place an elegant cover on them? Haibike and Specialized's new emtbs have much larger batteries (630-700wh) and almost look like their analog cousins

Is a Tesla E-Bike on the horizon?

Tesla is the obvious 800# gorilla - really surprised they haven't built a few ebikes - make a few with Ludicrous mode just to fire up the MAMILs and emtb haters :)

Making the juggernaut more trail worthy/chain drops?

Hard to think how to "soften" a hardtail more than you've already done. Tubeless will help a little - can ride with lower pressure without worry about pinch flats. I installed Vitoria AirLiner in my rear tire as it seems to me to be the best tire insert on the market as it takes up so much...

If your bike goes into a slide, how should an older person with age-related limited mobility, respond?

I doubt you can practice anything, other than be vigilant to avoid situations where you might fall. Avoid off-camber turns, limited visibility turns, avoid surfaces with mud, leaves, sand, debris. Essentially, be a defensive driver, er, rider.

Help on choosing a Vancouver Commuter bike

1600' elevation gain points to a mid drive rather than hub drive but with your fitness level, could use a powerful hub drive. Perhaps Juiced's CCX 52v is worth consideration? I think you'll be unimpressed with lesser motors/smaller batteries. Always get biggest battery available. Most...
