    Brakes

Well then, back to taking it to a bike shop or doing it himself. I would do it myself but I understand that some people wouldn't be comfortable with that, which is fine. This is simple service either way. TT

    Brakes

Good point about it being a new bike. Take it back to the dealer. It should be under warranty. Long-term, bleeding brakes is a routine job. Depending on your comfort level with simple mechanics, it is the kind of job that many people would do themselves. TT

    Brakes

So the front wheel was up in the air, above the back wheel? Okay, why? Sounds to me like the brakes need bleeding. Depending on you mechanical ability, this is a routine maintenance thing to deal with, but if you aren't comfortable with the job, it should be fairly cheap to have done by a...

    Brakes

I know very little about hydraulic brakes, so take this for what it's worth. Have you turned the bike over for any reason? Whether or not, it sounds like you might have air in the lines, in which case you need to bleed the brakes and top of the fluid. YouTube can help, or take to to your bike...

V Style Ramp for 1UP hitch rack

That's a good video. I've been doing that long before I saw the video though. The method works. No idea how much trouble the ramp would be, but from what others are saying, it seems worth skipping. TT

Bike shop charging fee to upgrade mission control?

There's no such thing as a free lunch. Whether you pay for an update in cash or not, you pay for it. Seems to me it mostly depends on what marketing spin you want to believe. That said, it's a little hard to believe there's not a DIY or automatic option for the updates. TT

Catalina Island, Avalon to Two Harbors

I keep thinking I'd like to go back to Catalina. It's been a long while. I got to meet Duke Fishman, aka the Duke of Catalina, aka Mr. Clean. TT

The world's longest bicycle tunnel - or maybe the second longest anyway :)

It is meant for pedestrians as well, with dedicated lanes. One would hope it won't be difficult for people to stay in their lane. It appears to be a beautiful, very worthy project that many other municipalities should consider. TT

possible list of owners location and their bikes?

Vincent has been around recently. Maybe not as often as in the past; without checking, within the past couple of weeks, that I know of. tt

Help with choosing a roof rack for Electra Cruiser Lux Fat Tyre 7D

20 kg is relatively light among ebikes, but have you put some serious thought into how you're going to get the bike on and off the rack? Yeah, it may be doable but may not be particularly easy or enjoyable. TT

Bafang m400 mid drive no pedal assist???

Whatever fixed it, great. I want to point out though that we don't know if it was a reboot or if the taking the battery off and putting it back on made for a good connection that wasn't quite there before. Regardless, glad you're up and running and thanks for reporting back. Now, another "for...

Bafang m400 mid drive no pedal assist???

I'll just say that if you don't have a good mechanical connection, ain't nothin' gonna work. These products will help with making the connection clean and therefore reduce any unwanted ohms. The dielectric grease (or other product) will get pressed out of that connection and become a barrier...

    What Would You Have Done?

As for bear spray, if you don't remember, you can google the story about the ex-cop at a movie theater in Florida who shot and killed a guy who threw his popcorn at him AND got away with it. If it's justifiable to kill a guy for throwing popcorn, I would think being bear-sprayed would a sure...

Bafang m400 mid drive no pedal assist???

You DO use it on the contacts, absolutely. It doesn't interfere with the metal-to-metal contacts at all. It cleans them and protects them from corrosion. The tiniest patina on the contacts can stop the flow of electricity. These products prevent that. This also protects from water intrusion...

Bafang m400 mid drive no pedal assist???

While unplugging and plugging things back in, a little dielectric grease, Boeshield, or ACF-50 on all of the connections would probably be a good idea too. TT

    Kickstand mounting bolts stripped

Bolts from the inside work fine as long as they stay tight. If they start working loose and stick out (in) closer and closer to the rotor and the spokes you could be in for some serious nastiness. Nylocks are great and may prevent the problem, but why not put them on the inside, especially if...

    Kickstand mounting bolts stripped

Once you get the bolt out, I think I'd just put a fine threaded bolt back through and tighten it down with maybe a locknut and some Locktite. Use the biggest nut that will fit in the indent and the fattest bolt that will fit through without drilling out the threads, or drill out the threads and...

    Kickstand mounting bolts stripped

Thanks for the pictures. I can't tell though, are the holes in the chain stay threaded? If not, I'd think a whack or two on a punch would knock out the bolt. For the repair, there would be less risk to the rotor and spokes to put the nut on the inside, imo. TT
