    Hill climbing ability

Yeah I know.. In the days before my ebike, I did this short climb on my road bike, it was first gear (triple front chainring setup), and it was like doing a max output interval training, 5-6 mph, and me barely making it to the top before I would've needed to stop for a breather. I have...

    Hill climbing ability

So my bike computer (Magellan Cyclo) has a slope grade indicator, there is a route I sometimes take to work that has a climb that peaks at 16% grade. On my Juiced CCS in first gear in highest assist I can maintain ~11 mph, I doubt that this would be sustainable from a heat standpoint if the hill...

    Crazy Stupid Commute

Sorry if I was misunderstood. I'm not trying to put anyone down. I just thought it was amusing that people take Strava data seriously enough to compete over. That's my bias, and doesn't in any way belittle what others do. If you or anyone else wants to do that, go for it and have fun. I have...

    Crazy Stupid Commute

I went in a changed several of my rides to ebike now that I know. I do have to laugh a little at taking this kind of thing seriously, its a safe bet that most of the cycling records are made with a large tailwind. Thus, unless you were riding that same segment with a similarly large tailwind it...

    Crazy Stupid Commute

LOL, I was wondering about that. I didn't know there is an ebike setting. I'll look for it. I'm certainly not concerned about records.

    Crazy Stupid Commute

@ebubar I am curious about what kind of speeds you attained with the ST2S. I really didn't research Stromer bikes much due to the price. Does Stromer offer an "off road" mode that allows you to have pedal assist above 28mph? If so what was the max speed you achieved? What were comfortable...

Motor Sounds - breaking in, not breaking down

So, based on the prior posts about this, I began to pay more attention to this. I have noticed that there seems to be consistently a more "harsh" for lack of a better word, sound when accelerating at lower speeds in higher levels of assistance. I attribute this to the heavy load on the motor in...

    New to e-bikes.

Need more info. What kind of riding are you planning on, how long are your rides going to be, what is your preferred riding style (upright, pedal forward, MTB, hybrid, road, etc.)

250 miles on ODO, have my first rear flat

I agree with carrying a GAADI tube, I have one in my kit, even though I'm running tubeless. You may want to read some reviews on the Marathon's, their puncture resistance seems great, but I've read many reports about poor traction and handling, especially in the wet. I know Continental makes...

    Guidelines for Safe Motor Temperature?

Well, this week I have given the CCS a pretty decent heat stress test. 2 days ago my commute home was with ambient temp at 100F, and a slight ~5 mph headwind, near the end of my ride and my usual climb over 3-4 miles had my controller temps at ~70C. Today was much worse, ambient temp was at...

Questions on tires - cross current/reip current

Search @Reid posts for the biggest tire on a CCS, he went to EXTREME lengths to get a Schwalbe 29 x 2.35 tire on the rear. As for the weight, no way. The CCS is > 60 pounds, and the RCS is closer to 70. I'm not sure why you have a weight limit anyway. The power of the bike makes it a non-issue.

How to Best Charge Battery for Longest Life

So, my work conditions have changed a bit which has forced me to use the train on my way to work 2-3 days a week. This cuts my ride on the CCS down to ~13.5 miles from my normal 30 miles. Not happy about it, but it gave me a reason to analyze my battery usage a bit. I don't need anywhere near my...

Looking for comments on the Juiced Bikes Rip Current S - Should I purchase or spend more?

Just to give my opinion as well. I own a CCS which I love. The only problem I have had was a failed rear taillight, which Juiced replaced immediately. I also had the fender rattle problem, which I posted on this forum about. @Bruce Arnold mentioned he was able to cure by moving the supports...

Question regarding medium size Rip Current S frame.

Agree with Bruce and Reid. I actually debated trying to get a medium instead of a large because of their posts. I'm 5-10 as well and the large is fine, but the medium would probably be a better fit.

    Crazy Stupid Commute

So you know about my 30 mile commute. I will link a strava ride from April on my road bike: https://www.strava.com/activities/1489909223 And here is the same ride today on my CCS: https://www.strava.com/activities/1664477964. This is a pretty fair representation of the time savings for me, I...

Learning how to tension and true a new CCS wheel

Reid, I ordered this tool kit with a spoke tool from Amazon because the spoke tool looked identical to the one on Juiced's site, and Juiced was out of stock at the time. It fits and works perfectly. You also get a pretty decent bike tool kit with it, all for the same price as just a spoke...

Three months with CCS: Good and Bad

I have the 52V battery, which is the heaviest battery Juiced makes. Fortunately I haven't had your problem. I also ride fast and hit plenty of bumps at speed. I usually stand up like Bruce to avoid hard hits myself, but the bike certainly gets them. I like Reid's idea of floating the socket, I...

    Why do we ebike?

For me it was a combination as well, but it was primarily to promote commuting more on the bike and using my car/ transit less. Biggest reason I wanted to bike commute was the enjoyment I get from riding, and the ebike makes riding more enjoyable especially when a headwind is present. Health...

    the Schwalbe Big One / G-One 2.35" 29'er

Only 4 of the bikes I have actually are mine. The rest are for family. Mine include the CCS, a road bike that was my commuter prior to the CCS, a Pivot Firebird MTB for trail riding, and an old Trek steel frame MTB that I use for family rides towing grandkids in a trailer or on the trailer...

Help deciding on E-bike for longer commute

They are ultimately trying to sell you a bike. They have a huge incentive to scare you from buying from somewhere else. Markup is probably at least 60% on the e bikes they are selling. Ignore the scare tactics. I have over 1300 miles on my CCS in about 6 weeks. The only problem I have had was a...
