Report of my first 4000 miles on a CCS (also my first 5 months of owning it)

I think the biggest difference between the 2 is the standard 52v battery, at least from a usability perspective. The extra voltage adds a nice performance advantage. From what I can tell the top speed is not going to be any different, I could be wrong. The extra amperage the controller can...

class 3 commuter bikes that can actually go 28 mph with some luggage?

You will not regret it. I love my CCS. I am over 3400 miles in 4 months of ownership. :)

class 3 commuter bikes that can actually go 28 mph with some luggage?

I would guess I am at ~30 mph for ~50-60% of my ride. Obviously I have to deal with traffic lights, car traffic, and near my work is more inner city style roads, which forces me to slow down. My average trip speed on the majority of my rides hovers around 24mph for the trip. (I use a Magellan...

NEW Juiced Models: Rip Current, and Cross Current X; Tariff Pricing Announced

My point is for production bikes Juiced is offering better value that other manufacturers for replacement batteries. Your prior post implied otherwise. Of course you can buy DIY frame packs for a lower cost per Wh, but those don't fit in the locking cradles of any manufacturers bike.

class 3 commuter bikes that can actually go 28 mph with some luggage?

I ride a Juiced CCS with the 52V battery. I have a 30 mile each way commute and my cruising speed is ~ 30 mph, but the bike is capable of faster speed (tops out a bit over 35 with a full charge).

NEW Juiced Models: Rip Current, and Cross Current X; Tariff Pricing Announced

Lol. Have you priced batteries for others??? The Bosch 500Wh battery which has half the capacity of the Juiced pack sells for $938...

How Many Have Received Fines for Class 3?

The highest speed I have achieved on my road bike is 55 mph. The highest on my ebike has been 42 mph. Acceptable speed is relative to the situation. Follow the speed limits of the road you are on. I honestly feel safer cruising in traffic on my ebike at 30 mph than I do on my road bike at 20...

HF1000 after 3k miles - thoughts and opinions

So I'll just throw in my 2 cents. I bought a CCS in May of this year. I just passed 3200 miles on it. The only issue I have had was a failed taillight, which Juiced replaced immediately. I am commuting daily 30 miles each way on the bike so the reliability is very important to me. I am...

    Rude remarks by non-ebikers

Yes it is. I am cheating Exxon out of my gas money.

    Possible downside to speed pedelec / class 3 / 28 MPH ?

When I was originally planning on building a bike, I was planning on a direct drive motor. When my current motor wears out, I will likely look that way.

Report of my first 4000 miles on a CCS (also my first 5 months of owning it)

Riding around at ebike speeds and weight, I'd be very nervous with a cracked rim. You need to replace it regardless, why risk a catastrophic failure at 30 mph.

Report of my first 4000 miles on a CCS (also my first 5 months of owning it)

That is my guess as well. I will look forward to hearing reports from CCX owners once it is available. If the new controller makes a significant difference in top end performance, I would be willing to upgrade.

Report of my first 4000 miles on a CCS (also my first 5 months of owning it)

So I crossed the 3000 mile mark this week. (Between summer vacations and smoky air, my amount of time on the bike is lower than average). My bike continues to be very solid and trouble free. I am commuting in level 3 or S for the majority of my commute. I do generally drop the assist when...

    Possible downside to speed pedelec / class 3 / 28 MPH ?

No that is not my point. This is not about pedal cadence. (There are reports from mid-drive owners about efficiency improvements based on cadence however.) What I am referring to is the simple physics of torque multiplication based on use of gear ratios. When the front chainring is smaller...

    cross current s question(s)

When you are using a wide range rear cassette, (ie 11-42 or more), the long cage gives better ability to absorb slack in the chain in the highest gear (11t rear cog).

30 miles commute, confused between hub vs mid-drive

So I wouldn't even bother with a plan for a water bottle inside the frame. Even with a small profile battery (13Ah), there's not enough space for nearly any normal water bottle to fit. @Reid found one small enough to fit, but he has a large frame, there's less space on a medium. My solution was...

    Scrambler - upgraded battery?

This is so absolutely true. I love to ride at speed. As I have become more comfortable and familiar with my CCS, I find myself customizing my charge profile for my next expected ride in order to maintain higher battery voltages. Finding that balance between the 80% charging goal and the...

30 miles commute, confused between hub vs mid-drive

I purchased a large frame, I'm 5-10 with 32 inch inseam. If I had it to do over, I'd get a medium frame. Standover height is fine when I am on the bike, but the bike being heavy is not fun to swing your leg over when getting on. I usually put one leg on, start rolling, and swing a leg over while...

    Scrambler - upgraded battery?

Buy the biggest battery you can afford. You will never regret extra range available, but you will definitely regret running out of power mid ride. The bigger battery also gives you the option of charging to 80% more often when you don't need all the range. This will greatly increase battery...

30 miles commute, confused between hub vs mid-drive

So I will chime in with my experience. I own a CCS as well. My commute is 30 miles each way. When I bought, I was able to get the 52V 21Ah battery which is no longer available, but only about 100 Wh more capacity than the 52V 19.2Ah battery That said, I typically only charge my battery to 80%...
