    New to forum

I'll do it for you. "Here are my reasons for choosing the Aventon Pace 500." * these reasons may not apply to you. (They certainly don't apply to me, but hey, yay to the OP for figuring out what's important to him in an ebike.)

    Belt drive + throttle suggestions

If you want the Gates carbon belt drive, that adds $$ upfront. Ditto internal gearing. At some point you need to crossreference what you need, what you (only) want, and what you can pay, and see where those triangulate!

Who has a GPS on their bike?

I wear a Garmin Fenix 3HR - not always, but on longer rides, just for activity tracking. I'm a runner and mountain biker and I've been using wristwatch-style GPS for over ten years now. I don't find the instantaneous grade useful but I do watch the elevation and elevation change, and later on...

    Lyft eBike battery fires

At least one of the articles I read about this suggested that vandalism could have been the cause, rather than any inherent issue with the batteries or chargers. However, with city street fleets I expect that vandalism is unavoidable.

    Extending Battery Life

I am indeed talking about a mid-drive - food for thought, thanks! And I use the lowest assistance level in the non-hill portion pretty much always. (Bosch Active Line + and an Enviolo CVT.)

    Extending Battery Life

What about gearing? I usually use my higher assist levels only for going up hills, and I've wondered, is it better (for battery life) to use a lower gear, which makes the battery work less but for a longer time as it's slower going, or a higher gear, which gets me to the top of the hill (and...

Some days are just like that!

It's delightful to be in a corner of the internet where youngsters are fortyish! (Being fiftyish myself.)

    Tubeless 2 - Thorns 0

I've got tubeless on my acoustic mtb and have never had a flat in four years. I've had a few punctures that sealed themselves up and didn't affect my ride! I will probably go tubeless on my town ebike (which also has "tubeless ready") as soon as I get my first flat...

What Info are you looking for on a display???

I frequently cycle through all the Purion options: trip distance (I reset it after every battery charge), total mileage (which I just like to see on occasion, usually at the end of my ride), estimated range (this plus the battery bars gives me better info than just the battery bars), and assist...

    Jerryel

Your motor went out after only seven miles? Did you not charge the battery? Or was it a motor failure? That sounds like something you need to take up with the shop that sold you the bike!

Why use a chain rather than a Gates belt drive

My ebike (city/utility) has the Gates belt and the NuVinci CVT, my acoustic mtb has a chain and 1x11. I can believe your argument here, that chains are used on the emtbs because of the external gearing, because thinking about the kind of terrain I mtb on, with sharp steep changes in grade, I...

Best value (not cheapest) city ebike for hills (with quality components, etc)...

Hi, I have owned a Priority Embark for a little over a month now, and love it! Here is my blog post about my experiences so far, and that links to my process of searching for a bike and how I chose this one. I live on a mesa with a ~350' climb in a mile and a half (with two very steep...

    Is the animus overblown?

I have never had anything other than envy and admiration directed at my e-bike. But I've only had it for a little over a month.

    Not quite bike newbie

That's great! Like I said, Dave (and the rest of the company) are super super responsive and helpful. I had also emailed them asking about sizes and they were spot on in recommending a small for me and a large for my husband (who is 5'10" with long legs). I hope you get your new bike soon, and...

Best ebike on the market if money is no issue?

The Priority Embark is made by Priority Bicycles, an NYC company. It has the Bosch mid drive motor, the Gates belt drive, and a CVT internal hub. I love mine!

I got a bouquet of flowers home - in a vase - by running a bungee around it and fastening it to the rack. Also in that pannier: mail I've just picked up, a bag of bok choi, two six-packs of beer and local cider, a pound of granola, and a pound of cheese. The other pannier's filled with fruits...

My Mom Can't Stop Riding Her Electric Bike

That's the bike I have, yay! In fact the other day I was looking at the collection of letters sent to our city council (in Durango CO) a few years ago when they were considering a 1-year test allowing e-bikes on our trails (which until then were prohibited as "motorized vehicles"). The...
