Isn't a 28mph Bosch the drive we really want?

Is that highest priority? Since mid drives run through the gearing, the motor can get away w/ less torque than hub motors. I mean, I guess you can always say more is better, but after riding a bosch-driven haibike, I wasn't thinking, "if only it had more torque". I was thinking 20mph wasn't...

Dash Seems Perfect - Except for that high top bar

if you don't need the speed, that really opens up options for you then. Saw your post about not having a great experience at an LBS when checking for ebikes.... see if you can find some other dealers and try what's out there. Don't worry about the naysayers and ride as many as you can try and...

Dash Seems Perfect - Except for that high top bar

hmmm. If you want > 20mph, the next cheapest option is probably something like the eflow Nitro or Flight, which come in low-step frames (those come in high torque or high speed motor versions). They are priced higher than the Dash, but not quite as much as stromer's or specialized turbos.

DASH Commuting Report - 1 Month & 600 miles (long post)

I don't know how far I'll take it into the winter. I'm ok w/ the cold, I think I've got, or can get, gear for that, but I will probably call it quits once they start needing to salt the roads heavily unless there's lulls between snow and the roads are really dry -- it's a lot of wear and tear...

DASH Commuting Report - 1 Month & 600 miles (long post)

good idea on the gels guys. That made me remember I've got a roll of amber gel filter sheets, I'll see how that works out. Brian thanks for the info on the jones bar conversion. I was eyeballing the wiring setup and figured it might require some splicing to change out the handle bar. Maybe...

DASH Commuting Report - 1 Month & 600 miles (long post)

Well, one month in, I'd figure I'd give my thoughts on the E3 Dash for those who are eying it as a commuter. For my very first impressions of the bike (what I thought when I was shopping around for bikes), see this thread...

    Riese & Müller

Lenny -- that's a cool story and a good example of how ebikes can make a difference to people's lives. Chris I saw there were some other s-ped's on your site for 2015: the trekking pro's and urban, are you just saying it's harder to get those as well? Bosch driven units were my favorite of...

Moustache has some cool stuff too. Just tell all these guys we want the 28mph versions :) (another reason I liked that delite hybrid)

Dash vs the other bikes I tried

nope, you'd need to get different pedals if you want toe clips.

Much of their line has analogous bosch-driven offerings from Haibike, Kalkhoff, Focus, Grace, etc. The one that stood out to me however was the delite hybrid ((Link Removed - No Longer Exists)). I have not seen too many full suspension bikes that have rear racks integrated into the frame such...

Any US importers for R&M ? They have some interesting Bosch-equipped bikes

CurrieTech - How to adjust Dash rear brake??

Brian, did you find any difference in lever feel with the BB7's? I have them on another bike and I can adjust them to a more firm feel than the shimano's on the dash. I have road levers on the other bike though so I don't know if the difference is the calipers or the levers.

Blown motor on E3 Dash with 29 miles on it

How did he know if the hub motor had the glue problem... was it based on your bike's serial #?

Anyone using this for lights ?

thanks Chris, I will look into that other B&M light. I really like the Ixon IQ that I've got, but I was already thinking of adding either a second or a more powerful model from the B&M line because the Dash is fast enough that outrunning my light is now an issue. Maybe getting a new light to...

Anyone using this for lights ?

Saw comments in the thread about the city kit regarding lights. Is anyone using the connectors described here ((Link Removed - No Longer Exists)) to wire up lights. I've got a B&M Ixon IQ that would take that 6V feed, just wondering if anyone has given it a shot?

Dash vs the other bikes I tried

Yeah, my commute has a few long but gradual hills, nothing really steep, so it's a good match for the dash. For shoes, I've always worn mtb cycle shoes even on my road bikes, so the cleats are recessed and you can walk normally. I'll have to look up your notes on the suntour. I knew some...

Dash vs the other bikes I tried

Yep that was me that suggested those marathon racers you just got. 35.6 ---nice! I can make 40 miles of range easily if I stay at PAS1 the whole time, but when I bought the bike I asked the dealer to throw in an extra charger -- so one charger at home, one at work and I refresh the battery on...

Dash vs the other bikes I tried

An electric bike is about the only kind of bike I didn't have other than a recumbent, so before buying, I tried to get a ride on as many different ones as I could at four different dealers. Here's what I thought of the 'competition') First, my target usage is the following: - 40+ mile round...

    Hillclimbing Dash

I think izip makes that weight spec on the conservative side, it sounds like the bike has been working for you and that's what's important. I tried a lot of bikes at several dealers, and while I didn't think the dash was the absolute best bike, I think it was the best value, especially if you...

    Hillclimbing Dash

The 231 lbs spec'd in the dash manual is all-up weight -- rider, accessories, and the bike itself. I think in the case of the step hill you mention hitting in 9th gear and just barely making it, it may help to shift down like you would do unassisted. I say this because it seems like that would...
