Raising the handlebar on a '19 Vado 3.0

Riser bar of 40mm was the easiest of 4 possible ways to solve this for me.

Have you ridden a Vado with no pedal assist?

It rides like a heavy bike. No resistance from the motor. On rail trails we tend to ride ECO level on hills and sometimes on the flats, mostly if there is head wind. If no wind both my wife and I turn off the assist on flats and downhills. I encourage good battery management skills for that time...

The 'Dirty Little Secret of the E-Bike Industry'.

If you truly take a look at the engineering behind the Trek, Giant and Specialized ebikes you will find the difference between the basic and the more expensive bikes. They are all intended to do basically the same thing. Some just do it (at a higher cost) with a little less drama and...

Can anyone recommend a good bike trainer for a Como 3.0?

Thru axle adapters are available from Tacx, Wahoo & Robert Axle Project to mount a bike on a trainer. Depending on what you want out of this endeavor you may be happy with a basic one like the Tacx Blue Twist or Blue Matic. If you want more hardcore training then a Smart trainer like the Tacx...

Creo Carbon Comp SL Motor Error

I truly believe its about having a good LBS that is into your style of biking. Ebikes are great fun, but even the great ones still seem to need service. You might just fall in love with the EVO version.

eMtn Bike with 27.5 x 2.35" tire on packed snow?

We too live in a very bike friendly region north of Toronto, Ontario and are spoiled with dedicated fat trail groomers, and trails galore in our area. We tend to go with 4.6 tires and bigger due to snow depth and traction for some big climbs that we attempt all winter long. Was out 2 Sundays ago...

Info overload on first ebike help. 4 months of research

You sound like your talking yourself back into something with a throttle, like another motorbike. I can appreciate the frustration with some LBS. We have 5 in my town, of which 2 are really trustworthy shops - Trek and Specialized dealers.

Specialized Turbo Creo 28mph Electric Road Bike

I had a Colnago with 26mm Vittoria tires on it. Really nice tire. Then I rode a gravel bike with high quality 42mm tires on it, a more road-oriented large tire. What a difference. There are so many really nice, big tires out now that I cannot see me ever going below 30mm again.

Specialized Turbo Creo 28mph Electric Road Bike

DT Swiss 350 Hubs are nice and smooth, available with Boost spacing. As are most nice hubs out there. I just built up a nice set for my Vado.

2020 28mph e road bikes: Specialized Creo vs 2020 BH Core race 1.6 vs Trek Domane + HP vs Bulls Desert Eagle ?

The wheel hub spacing on the Creo is not proprietary. Boost hubs are quite common these days, even on Trek bikes. Although many of the big brands went through a period of making some proprietary parts for the bikes, in general it seems they have gotten over it and stopped for the most part...

    eMTB Options For 2024

Carbon is a pretty durable frame material. Most stunt planes are now carbon. Experience has shown that you can wreck an aluminum frame pretty much the same way you can a carbon one. Depends on what you wrap it around or strike:). Quality carbon is certainly stiffer where it needs to be, and...

How long can you expect an e-bike to last?

I would be happy if I got 20,000 km out of the battery on my Vado. I will be buying a second one so we can do some longer tours. My first bike was a BionX that I put about 8,000 km commuting on and it is still running for second owner, but he rides in in the winter too so battery is probably...

Specialized Vado / Como, Class 3

If you look hard enough, all the things you want are out there. Look at Thule kid carriers for one. I have mounted Axiom rear carriers on Como and Vado bikes (right over the standard Vado integrated rack) for people. Looks like a beast but it works if you want to carry panniers and a trunk bag...

    eMTB Options For 2024

Never could get the FiveTens to fit comfortably. Giro has a couple of similar models. The Jacket give all-day comfort for me. The Riddance is more protective, but not as comfy imo.

    eMTB Options For 2024

Very interesting thread so far. Great collection of opinions, thoughts and experiences. Will be very interested to hear your emtn biking thoughts in a year. Usually much different than what you expected!! I would think a little grey, rainy weather in SoCal would be welcome every once in a while...
