Should it be legal for kids to ride ebikes?

Like anything it depends on the person. I have neighbors that have all of their kids on dirt bikes and ATVs starting at age 5, They are all under 16 years of age and have been riding dirt bikes for several years, so I would think they can handle an e-bike. Other kids can’t manage a normal...

How much has your ebike replaced your car?

I have 2, a Cyrusher and a Bikonit both have a "frame number" and a motor number, the DMV accepted the frame number as the VIN and the motor number as the motor number. however CA has a requirement that e-bikes over 750watts capable of speeds over 20mph by throttle only be registered as...

How much has your ebike replaced your car?

not everywhere, AAA bicycle service is only available in a few states. I have the coverage in CA, only because I registered my bike with the DMV as a moped and have it insured, so it is covered under the AAA motorcycle towing services. however I just carry patches, a spare tube...

    Why not speed limits?

speed unsafe for conditions and differences in speed are the issue IMO. 500 cars all doing 80 mph is not an issue. throw a couple of cars into the mix doing 10 over that and weaving in and out of traffic or doing 10 or more under causing others to go around them, is a recipe for an accident.

    Why not speed limits?

the last statistics I saw from the US NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) in 2019 stated that only 32% of drivers obey posted limits, only 48% understood the "Basic Speed Law" and 91% stated they normally drive faster than the posted limit by 5mph or more. I think it is...

    Why not speed limits?

no, I am simply saying that posted speed limits are pointless, no one obeys them. as for assist limits, also IMO pointless because they can easily be removed, I've done it to all my ebikes. I ride smart, IMO, on bike pathways that are cluttered with other riders and pedestrians I...

    Why not speed limits?

seriously? where did I post ANYTHING about being in support of assist limits? please show me.. I made no such post, I claimed no such support. I simply stated that I believe that posted speed signs are pointless, as car drivers don't obey them so cyclists won't and don't. I don't...

No spare batteries, end of line for Turbo Vado?

supply chain is broken world wide Due to last years Covid lockdown. Computer chips and the electronics required for the battery BMS are in short supply. So for at least the next 6-9 months it will be hard to get anything and prices will continue to rise as there is a high demand and short...

    Why not speed limits?

What is nonsensical about it? People don’t obey speed limits, be it in a car or on a bike way. So what good is putting up speed limit signs on a bikeway? Who is going to enforce it? Who is going to monitor it? do you think they are going to create a bike police division to patrol these...

Get a good helmet, and wear it.

Same mentality as the magic gloves that food workers wear. I have on a plastic/rubber glove so everything is protected, even if I use that gloved hand to scratch my ass.

E-bikes and weight loss - a case study

Lol: I’ve lost 165lbs since getting my e-bike in Oct 2020. It’s all about what you put into it. This is me when I renewed my license 9-2019 and then when I got my RealID last month. The difference, Commuting 50 miles to and from work on my e-bike 4 days a week since 10-2020

    Why not speed limits?

I believe in personal responsibility, I ride my motorcycle and bike and drive my car within the current laws and regulations. While I will exceed the speed limit to pass someone, 98% of the time I am the slow moron in the right lane at or slightly below the speed limit. I know that the time...

    Why not speed limits?

Who obeys speed limits? Less than 10% of the population. Speed limit on the road outside the street I live on is 30mph, there are “this is your speed” radar And cameras all up and down that road. I see people doing 55-65 in this 30mph zone all day long. I see it come up on the posted...

Get a good helmet, and wear it.

depends on the circumstances I guess. saw a 15 bike pile up on a river bike trail a few weeks ago. one guy farked up and the whole pack went down, several head injuries and a broken leg. The head injuries were the guys that went sliding down the rock embankment. no helmets on any of...

Get a good helmet, and wear it.

always amazes me when I see cyclists on the river bike trails with their helmets strapped to their handlebars or rear rack.. don't get it. you have the helmet so wear it. I wear a MIPS helmet and I've had 2 nasty falls where I would have suffered some level of head injury without the helmet...
