Turbo Vado 4.0 questions: range and reliability

You don't mention if there are many stops on your route which will also affect range. Either bike should meet your needs but which one has the LBS that you like, has a good reputation and maybe close by?

Specialized Vado 5 rear light not working

If you really want to protect the wiring inside a fender use aluminum foil HVAC duct tape. It's very durable and will not come off as long as you've cleaned the surface. It's a little more expensive and has a peel off layer to expose the adhesive so you can easily use scissors to cut it to...

Specialized Turbo Vado/Como/Tero/Tero X User Club

It's probably for a water bottle cage. (There a lot of different Turbo Vado years and models so don't forget to add the details.)

Specialized Vado 5 rear light not working

Another place to check, remove the rear wheel and look at the wire routing along the inside of the fender and also check where it goes from the frame through the fender. You might have picked up a rock and nicked a wire or abraded one of the wires with the tire. Since you already have an...

Blow outs with Schwalbe Marathon winter plus

I have also made the mistake of not making sure the line above the bead is not visible and even all around the rim on both sides. It is a visual indicator the tire is seated correctly all the way around. Edit to add: I used Schwalbes (both studded and marathon plus) on my Turbo S and I found...

Experience with bringing range extender batteries in carry-on luggage?

US domestic or US International might be two different answers? If you go to the TSA website for Lithium batteries greater than 100 watt-hours they have this footnote: The final decision rests with the TSA officer on whether an item is allowed through the checkpoint. A Specialized Range...

    Firmware update for charging limit

I have a pre-2022 non-Mastermind Creo that can connect to the third party BLEvo app. I connected to it for the first time just to check the battery and it said I was down 3 wH on the nominal main battery capacity. MC says 60 cycles 5440 miles and 100% healthy which means it's on the normal...

Turbo Vado power vs Vado SL power

I did not know they had the middle version when I posted and it looks the poster I responded to has never been back. My viewpoint is I would prefer to not ride an e-bike and just ride my regular bicycle but right now a Creo allows me to keep up on hills and headwinds and recover in time for the...

    Firmware update for charging limit

I think Specialized added the feature to minimize the noise from the customers who worry about their batteries. The rest are riding too much to worry about it. I worry about forgetting to plug it in after a ride and then realizing it just before the next ride. I had a fully charged RE so I...

    Firmware update for charging limit

He did say it was a Creo Mastermind This page does not specify whether or not it's for Mastermind: Mission Control/Using Mission Control/Current: Tune your bike https://support.specialized.com/missioncontrol/en/using-mission-control/tune-your-bike But it does not appear on my Mission Control...

    Creo Rear Rack

Why would she be hauling it around? I didn't know MEC was still around. I'll have to see if I can find my old laminated membership card from the late 80's.

Are Vado SL Stock Hubs ('Specialized Alloy') Rebadged DT hubs?

The kits are about half the cost of a 350 hub so it would be a tough choice to upgrade. https://www.universalcycles.com/shopping/product_details.php?id=106309 The Creo's have DT Swiss internals per the support page but they only say "Specialized" on the Vado SL support page. I don't have a...

Tannus Armour Insert Tubeless on OEM Vado 5.0 rims?

The support page has info for converting 2022 Vado's to tubeless with additional instructions due to the rim valve hole that seems to be sized for a Schrader valve: https://support.specialized.com/turbovado/en/components-compatibility/wheels-tires Assuming you are new to experimenting with...

Tannus Armour Insert Tubeless on OEM Vado 5.0 rims?

I have not used Tannus Armour Inerts but I've used the similar Cushcore and Vittoria air liners. They will help a tubeless tire work better at low pressures and protect the rim from rock hits but I don't think they will make a rim "tubeless" by themselves and the Tannus web site mentions...

Crack or scratch on Turbo Vado SL 4 front rim

The rim extrusion is double walled at the nipple so it would just rattle around between the inner rim and outer rim. Unfortunately one loose spoke can quickly lead to many loose spokes if not attended to. An occasional pinch of each spoke pair is a good way to check for problems.

Crack or scratch on Turbo Vado SL 4 front rim

It means you need to spend more time riding and less time looking at your bike.

New Firmware for multiple bikes. Only updatable via the bike shop

You have to view the term "safety" in context. I read it as "Improved the function of the battery protection features for a better riding experience". The battery safety feature protects the battery from rider abuse. I found it shut down the RE battery more gracefully at the end of the RE...

    Replacing 2018 Levo Motor

Since it's not clear from your statement the bike does or does not work, it might need the dealer software to link the motor, battery and TCU together? My wild guess is the battery has the motor serial linked. Or dig for clues in the support site. https://support.specialized.com/turbolevo/en

Crack or scratch on Turbo Vado SL 4 front rim

That is just the seam where the two ends of the rim extrusion are pinned together. Aluminum rims are pinned, welded or inserted sleeve. It's not unusual to see the splice especially when we used to use rim brakes. There would frequently be a smear from the brake pad at the joint. It is...
