    SpeedBox 2 - Yamaha PW-X

I ordered a SpeedBox 2 from Poland for my 2019 Yamaha Wabash with the PW-SE motor. They sent the wrong model. I’ve tried to return it but US Customs wouldn’t let it through and returned it to me. This WILL NOT work if you have a Yamaha bike with the hub mounted speed sensor. If you have a Yamaha...

    Shock Stop Seatpost Finally Here

Their specs say Rearward Offset @ 25% travel is 0.4 inches. Is the rearward movement noticeable when you're riding?

    Tubeless???

I switched to tubeless on my Yamaha Wabash gravel bike after getting a flat on one ride with 3 goat heads (hard pointed seeds, like small jacks from a ball & jack game) in my tire. I removed the tubes, taped the tubeless ready rims, installed tubeless stems, and added sealant. I have pulled goat...

Yamaha PW speed unlockers... SpeedBox2 vs EPlus vs BadAssBox 4 or 3.4

I have been exchanging emails with the BikeSpeed folks, even including pictures of my motor and display. I specifically told them that my bike has the Yamaha hub mounted speed sensor, not the standard magnet on a spoke. They assure me that their unit will work on my bike. I’ll probably go ahead...

    Giant 2020 ebikes?

Complaint here: I developed a scraping/grinding sound in my PW-SE over a month ago. The dealer agrees that it definitely doesn't sound right. I have yet to receive any assistance from Yamaha. They may have a 3 year warranty but good luck getting results on a claim.

Yamaha PW speed unlockers... SpeedBox2 vs EPlus vs BadAssBox 4 or 3.4

That's correct. I should have clarified that the 2019 Yamaha BRAND ebikes have the hub mounted speed sensor. Other manufacturers use the Yamaha motor but have their own systems of sensing and displaying. Sorry for the confusion...

Yamaha PW speed unlockers... SpeedBox2 vs EPlus vs BadAssBox 4 or 3.4

The 2019 Yamahas no longer have the spoke and magnet system for the speed sensor. They went to a rear hub mounted system that’s totally enclosed. The spoke and magnet only registers once per wheel revolution. The hub unit registers almost instantaneously when the wheel starts to move. I suppose...

Yamaha PW speed unlockers... SpeedBox2 vs EPlus vs BadAssBox 4 or 3.4

I have a Wabash and have been trying to install a SpeedBox2. Yes, there are 4 wiring connections going into/out of the PW-SE motor. The 4 connections are speed sensor, lights, display, and battery. I purchased the SpeedBox2 off EBay. It was specifically listed for my 2019 PW-SE but it will not...

    Flat Tires Perspectives: an invitation

Those of you that have been experiencing flats with your tubeless tires, have you been refreshing the sealant? I just converted my wheels from tube to tubeless and the LBS told me I needed to add a bit of sealant every couple of months. He said the sealant is latex based and will dry out over...

    Class 1 vs 3

I ordered a SpeedBox 2 for my 2019 Yamaha Wabash on Sept 30 from Action Sports out of Poland on Etsy. Their listing said delivery Oct 2-9 but I still haven't received it and this is now Oct 24. I've been going round and round with them and they now say I must wait 30 business days before they...

    Tubeless Conversion

I just completed converting my wheels from tubes to tubeless and thought others might like to get an idea of what's involved and the cost. First off, even though my Yamaha Wabash wheels came with tubes, both the rims and tires were tubeless compatible. This meant I did not have to purchase...

    E-bike riding instruction and tips

I always keep one or two fingers on the brake levers. You never know when you might have something jump out and create a panic stop situation. I guess that's a habit brought over from motorcycle riding.

Known Issues & Problems with Yamaha Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

Thank you for the reply & suggestions. The scraping sound does indeed sound like something rubbing on a cover but if it were the spider, it would occur all the time. My situation is the sound only appears when the motor begins working. If I'm pedaling with no boost it is perfectly quiet. Dave

Known Issues & Problems with Yamaha Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

I have a scraping/grinding noise coming from my 2019 PW-SE in my Wabash that is most noticeable in a low gear, with low load on the motor, and at low speed. The dealer sent Yamaha a sound video and I am waiting to hear their recommendations. I'd be very interested to hear what, if anything, you...

    Noisy Motor

I'm now over 700 miles and the noise is getting worse. I took the bike down to the dealer and he rode it around for a couple miles. He agreed that the motor was noisier than normal so he took a few videos while he was riding to record the noise. He sent a video to Yamaha so now I just wait to...
