    Class 3 bike

"but if I had a class 3 bikes what would it LIMIT me from doing?" It would limit you to having to plod along at 15-18 miles per hour. Once you get used to doing 20-28 mph there is no going back. You may not use it all the time, but it is good to have when you want it. Do you buy a car with...

Seeking advise on a (mostly) grocery run economical ebike for ebike newbie (who rides a regular bike 2K miles a year). Steep hills involved daily.

If you want to buy from a local store the best way forward would be to visit each store in person. Trek, Specialized, Cannondale and Giant are often found in most stores. Plus you could look for an REI store. If you change your mind about buying in store, the next places to shop for good...

Seeking advise on a (mostly) grocery run economical ebike for ebike newbie (who rides a regular bike 2K miles a year). Steep hills involved daily.

I have both a hub drive cadence sensor bike and a mid drive torque/cadence sensor. I far prefer the mid drive with the torque sensor - it feels like a normal bike. I can leave it in one power setting for my entire ride (off road, tight singletrack with roots and rocks) and it feels like my non...

RST Asteria Air Suspension 80mm Travel

A rule of thumb on mountain bikes is to start your air pressure at half your body weight. Put a zip tie snugly around the fork leg upper so that it will move and stay at its highest point. If it does not get pushed to the top of the stanchion/fork leg, let some air out. Five pounds of...

Trek Verve 3+ vs CO-OP Cycles CTY e2.2. Electric Bike

I forgot to mention that the Charge bike had been on sale at one time with a discount of $150. It was $2150 at that time. Being an. REI member makes the REI bike a very good deal.

Trek Verve 3+ vs CO-OP Cycles CTY e2.2. Electric Bike

I have not seen the Co-op bikes, nor sat on them. They do look like nice bikes for the money and if you are near an REI the local support would be nice. What I wanted to add here is a response to the original posters question regarding the Shimano motor - Shimano is a Japanese company that has...

    Bent rear tire (maybe rim?)

The video shows what looks like a flat spot in the rim, caused by too much tension on the spokes at the flat spoke. Try loosening the spokes.

    1,000-Mile review of 700 ST

Regarding the squeaky front wheel - my front wheel was also squeaky. The cone nuts were too tight. You will need at least one cone wrench (don't ask me what size) because the inner nut is thin. Soon as I adjusted it, it stopped squeaking.

First impressions of first ride today

bikeman, if you look at lunacycles website you will be able to find a video where they record the sound level of one of their bikes with the standard steel gears and another bike with their nylon replacement gear. Perhaps that will let you figure out if it is gear noise that you hear. There...

Better battery remaining accuracy on the 700

I experimented with battery voltage to see if it might be more accurate. Now I am fairly used to it, plus I have an idea of far I can really go. At this point I will probably leave it the way it is. Seems like it would be more trouble than possible gain to go back to voltage, and these days I...

Rode our first ebikes/May need to cancel R1U

My wife's seat top is 35" above the ground. The seat post has 5.5" of exposed height, so it looks like she could lower the seat top to 30" above the ground. I agree with FlatSix - you should size the bike according to the height from your butt to the pedal, not the ground. Get used to getting...

    R1U better address complaints soon

Judging by the question/comments/complaints that I see on here I think one of the biggest problems is customer malfunction. Many of the questions are very very basic and indicate to me that the owners have little or no bicycle experience or mechanical aptitude. That in itself is not really a...

700 scheduled to arrive Monday. re,Spokes!

We got two 700s in June. Hope its not bad news to you but all four wheels were very true and none of the spokes needed any tightening. I placed zip ties on the fork and rear frame and placed them near the rims. I doubt that the rims were even 1/16th out of true. Maybe some of these poor...

Ride1Up 700 Series Chain Falling Off Front Chain Ring

The facebook solution is what I suggested but was unable to do on my own (because I couldn't find the proper washers and screws). I wish I knew where they got their screws and washers. Mikes solution of a new bottom bracket is the correct way to provide a solution, but disassembly and...

    Aventon Modification

I have a Ride 1 Up 700 series, which looks fairly similar in style. The ability to take off on throttle only is quite useful to me. In my opinion, it takes too long for the motor to engage when pedaling so the throttle lets you take off smoothly. Also, the controller is programmable by the...

Known Issues & Problems with Ride1Up Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

I have a 700 and have found that the indicated speed most closely matches my phone gps (straight line speed) when set to 26", not 27.5 or 700c. It is usually off by no more than 2/10ths of a mph at any speed set at 26" wheel.

Como - wanting to raise the bars a bit

Adjustable stems are the easiest way to raise the bars. You will not have to remove the grips, brakes or shifters to swap out the stem. They almost always come with a removable face plate. If you do not know what you are doing, let your bike shop pick the stem and replace them. Keep your old...

Rode our first ebikes/May need to cancel R1U

A few nice items on the R1U - the hydraulic brakes work very well. Strong and smooth. It appears the RadMini has mechanical discs. Plus the rack is very helpful. The fork is only so so but can be improved by substituting a softer spring. I am only 170 lbs, and it was too stiff to be very...

Rode our first ebikes/May need to cancel R1U

My wife has a 700 Step Thru. She is 5'5" and fits on it just fine. There is still room to lower the seatpost - off the top of my head I think it could drop two inches or so. (Its in the shed and I don't want to run out to look at it.) One other factor to keep in mind is the length of the top...

Anyone having the chain pop off the front chainring?

Don't sweat it before you get the bike. The chain ring and crank on my 700 do stick out too far from the bike, but in 300 miles the chain has not fallen off even one time. In my opinion, R1U should manufacture some spacers and chain ring bolts about 3/8 of an inch long that would move the...
