Opinions on the best compromise?..(lightweight small manageable folding ebike)

I do not know if they sell a similar e bike in England, but I have a lightweight and cheap discovery x5. Good for short distances or urban riding. Folds easily. Has a twist throttle. Three Pas assist levels, no gears. I bought an extra battery on sale, new, for less than $200. Might fit your...

    Sport model by Espin discontinued

Yes. I still really like my Sport. Espin seems to be limiting models to step through and ads are pitched to older riders. Prices went up too.

    Electric Car thread

My brother in NJ bought an 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5, an electric suv. Benefits : quick, 300 mile range, charges to 80 per cent on fast charger in less than 30 minutes, lots of safety features, nice, big enough ( my brother is 6'5"), in NJ no sales taxes on ev's, no annual inspection, includes 2...

Seems on the East Coast some cars including EV's are hard to come by and some dealers are charging 5k and more on top of msrp.

Likely drive one at dealer. I may have to order just what I want which is the more standard version. They say around 30k. After July 2023 my state will have a $1500 tax credit as well as the $7500 federal credit. We like Chevy. Similar battery system will be in new Silverado truck. Comes with...

    250W and hills?

Ride 1up has some nice bikes and a 500 wt motor will be fine for hills. My son has a Ride1up 500. It is fine for hills. I have 2 bikes, 1 500 watt and a smaller lighter cheaper 250/350 watt bike. The smaller one can make it up a steep hill with pedaling, but it burns the battery quickly.

Lightweight Folding Bike for Heavy Rider Suggestions

If you want a cheap lightweight commuter folder the Discovery x5 is fine. It has an adjustable seat and 6 foot is fine. It could handle your weight. It does not have skinney spokes. Has cast wheels. I have a heavier more expensive non folding e bike too but for your intended use as a light...

COSTCO Is Now Selling A Name Brand Ebike

Got the x5. Like it. Light, stable, fun, it folds. Short range but that is ok. I have another bike for longer rides.

    Lightweight, foldable, type 1 ebike?

The discovery x5 would meet your requirements, light, folds easily, comfortable, and reasonable too. For your short commute you don't need a heavier or more expensive bike. They used to sell them at Costco but they are available elsewhere. I got mine used on Craigslist. Batteries for them are...

Got my first bike, a Jupiter Discovery X5.

I bought a used Jupiter Discovery x5 as it was lighter than my other e bike and folds. I think it weighs around 30 lbs. It is easy to steer and turn. I could also control speed well. You can peddle with 0 assist but don't recommend that for you. Start in assist level 1. When going down hill or...

I found a used Jupiter Discovery 5x and it seems fine. Light, easy to fold. Small battery but extra battery costs about $200.

I think they will keep the Bolt around awhile as it is the cheapest US car to qualify for the new $7500 tax rebate in 2023.

So what's your other hobbies or interests?

If you like teaching about boats and boater safety, the US Coast Guard Auxiliary would be a good fit. We are volunteers. We have flotillas everywhere. Fellowship is part of what we do also. You do not have to own a boat and training is free.
